Sent my almost 8 year old for mini week and he loved it! In his words… it was a 10 out of 10. And he’s already asking to go for a full week next summer! Beautiful camp that seems very well cared for and from short interactions with everyone - all incredibly friendly.

This was horrible to go to.
When I went, a girl had lice and no one thought to check before heading to the cabins/ when we got there. The whole time we were there it was pretty boring to say the least. I had chosen the water based activities and I thought it would be just for a day and I could do performance acts the next but it was not. I had to do the water activities the whole week in the morning and doing that then having lunch and not being able to wash off or having to change while soaking wet was not ideal. The counselors were ok but not that nice or they just made it worse. We were playing a game and a counselor got out by a kid and the counselor was not happy. The lack of freedom was not ok. I understand we are at a summer camp and it’s a camp but there was no options for us to make. If you missed your family you would have to bring yourself stationary and you could not mail it. The food was not that appealing. I get it your at a summer camp so the food won’t be the best but the lack of it was very real. No snacks unless you brought some or bought some. The activity’s were ok. Would I go back? No.

YMCA Camp Benson is a gem - activities like archery, natural rock climbing, tubing, kayaking, camp songs, quests that camp is made for. The kitchen is very accommodating of our vegetarian diet. The cabins spacious and comfortable. My kids love the counselors and the other kids they've met. They make so many memories and are looking forward to next year.

I'm really sorry about the negative review. I've been a camper here for two years, and man, things need to improve. Me and other campers were starving in between meals due to a lack of food and snacks available to us, not to mention how many bugs crawl around the kitchen there. Each free choice activity only lasted up to half an hour for the most part, so we were forced to mope around and do basically nothing. Everyone complained of being bored. The bathrooms have certainly improved, but the door was broken and bugs were rampant. A counselor was reported peeping on younger girls and sniffing undergarments, and she only got suspended temporarily over it. And there is such little staff, several being minors around the age of 16. This place has a lot of potential, and I've absolutely made some wonderful memories here, but please, please improve. Thank you for these two years, Camp Benson.

I can’t say enough about this place! My 7 year old daughter had a wonderful experience at Camp Benson last summer and can’t wait to go back! She still talks about what a great time she had, 6 months later! Such a positive atmosphere for kids to gain independence and confidence, while enjoying the great outdoors. The counselors are very caring and the director is great- it is easy to tell that they all love their jobs. I wish I had had the opportunity to experience a camp like this as a child, but thankful that it is offered for my daughters to enjoy!

My kids have been to camp Benson for one summer. This summer will be their second year going. They absolutely loved being there. They had a week full of fun and outdoors. They get to make new friends and all around have a ton of fun. The staff is so helpful and friendly it makes leaving your kids a bit easier. We look forward to this summer when they get to go and can't see what the week brings them.

One of the BEST Summer Camps around! My daughter tried a couple overnight camps before we stumbled upon Camp Benson. This camp we found to be the most organized with the best communication plus my daughter LOVES it here. She has been back 3 years in a row and will be going again this summer. It's a bit of a drive for us at 2+ hours but when you find a summer camp that is run so well you keep going back. Keep up the great work Camp Benson!

Our 10-year-old daughter has been attending Camp Benson for the past two summers, and she has loved her experiences there! Last year she asked to go for 2 weeks, and this upcoming summer she will attend for 2 weeks as well. Great facility, awesome staff, and a wonderful way to have your kiddos connect with the outdoors!
