We took the 12 miles kayak trip and had a perfect day out on the river. The team at White Pelican is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful at every step in the process. The only nit I have to pick is that some of the equipment could use a refresh. For example, my kayak had a broken foot rest on the left side, and the storage wasn't quite adequate for our trip bag, but ultimately, these things didn't take much away from the trip.

There are miles of beautiful forest and magnificent rocky walls/outcrops. We stopped off at a couple of the islands and found gorgeous flowers and undisturbed wilderness that is deeply refreshing. We also stopped at the Castle Rock Park observatory and took in the stunning views atop the platforms there. If you plan to stop here, too, do yourself a favor and pull your boat in to where the shore looks rocky and sandy. The mud is at least six inches deep and extremely sticky. I found this out the hard way.

In short, this is a trip I would gladly take again, and I will definitely go through White Pelican again when I do.

Went kayaking for the first time with them. Super easy to book, service was great and the river was scenic. Definitely would recommend a trip and I’m sure we will be back. Best money we’ve spent in a long time, well worth it.

This was a such a great outing for the Scouts and adult leaders! Ryan was extremely helpful with coordination and getting all of us geared up and embarked on our journey down the Rick River. We even had a physically challenged Scout who needed an extra Canoe chair and Ryan and the team helped secure him in safely. Mad respect to you all for what you do at White Pelican! You helped me fall in love with canoeing. Thanks again!!!

Very wonderful to be able to rent a kayak(or canoe or float) and relax on the river. Easy to pay and do the waivers online before you even get there and then get any important info from the professional staff when you start your trek! Thanks for an amazing experience!! Looking forward to more trips down the river!!

My group had a wonderful time kayaking the Rock River. We took the #2 trip - Grand Detour, 11 miles. The paddle took us 4 1/2 hours as we stopped at Castle Rock to eat and chill out for 40 minutes. Recommend climbing up to the overlook for a beautiful view of the river.. Great outfit to rent from, the staff was fantastix and extremely helpful. We're looking forward to a Spring trip down the Rock.

Awesome experience! Very helpful staff, pick up an launch was quick and smooth. And the scenery is amazing, saw eagles, lots of white pelicans, and herons. 12 mile paddle took about 5 hrs, with a couple stops, great way to spend the day on the beautiful Rock River.

The staff at White Pelican were very considerate- they gave some tips on how to stand-up paddleboard and specifically chose a plastic canoe for us so our dog would be more comfortable. Our family, which includes two 14 year old teens and a dog, rented a canoe, a kayak, and a paddleboard for our trip down the river. All of them were easy to handle and high quality. The river was warm and shallow for most of the 3 hours we spent there, and we found a few islands to have some snacks on while our dog swam. The stand-up paddleboard was a fun experience, and it was fun balancing down the Rock River. Their route down the river is easy to navigate and relaxing when the water levels are safe. White Pelican gave us great and memorable trip, and I'd definitely recommend it as a memorable family experience!
