This is a relatively new "discovery" for Wetumpka. I find it fascinating that a geologic event of this magnitude happened in my home state. This is simply the marker for the event that provides a little information about it, but there are tours provided. Check website for details.

Found this marker and the 7 educational signs. Number 2 was a bit nerve wracking to get to, and 7 took me a bit of exploring to find, but some amazing scenery along the way.

Went on the annual meteor crater tour. Loved it. Land owners generously allowed access. Knowledgeable well spoken Auburn geology grad student answered all of our questions and gave an entertaining tour. Public gallery in City Hall was also very informative.

ALWAYS CLOSED! Parked at the entrance and walked around, it looks very unkept, completely overgrown, you can't see anything but trees. Don't waste your time.

If anyone reads into this place you will find out when it is open... It only opens a couple times a year (or so) and cause covid-19 this year is postponed (if possible) til November 2021.
