We had an amazing trip. There were 6 of us, three generations. Our guide Patrick was knowledgeable about the country and the sights we were seeing. Hugh did an amazing job making sure we saw some amazing sights. From falconry in Dingle to an amazing buggy ride on the Aran Islands, some history in Limerick and the awe inspiring Cliffs of Moher. Food was great, accommodations were fabulous.

We had the most wonderful family trip to Ireland with Wanderlust Private Tours. Our driver guide was fun and knowledgeable, and made our holiday one of the best vacations we have ever taken. We went to interesting destinations, had some very unique excursions and tours, and visited locales we would not have known about without Wanderlust's expertise and recommendations. All the hotels were wonderful, the food was delicious, and the experience has had a lasting impact on our family. We will definitely be traveling with Wanderlust again.

Our experience with Wanderlust Private Tours was top notch! We spent a little over a week in Scotland and loved every second of it.

Wanderlust made the entire process a breeze; from planning an excellent/kid friendly itinerary (kids were 9/11 yrs old), to keeping up with communications leading up to the trip. They really took the stress out of overseas travel.

During our trip, our driver and tour guides were all superb. Everything was planned to a T, we just had to show up!

I recently completed my fourth trip arranged by Hugh Barnes and his company, Wanderlust Travel. I travel frequently and have never had a trip that went so smoothly and comfortably as one arranged by Hugh. I can’t stop raving about him to all my friends and family. Obviously, I am very pleased with the services he provides, since I have used him several times: two for trips in England, one in Scotland, and recently for a trip in France. It has been a pleasure to work with Hugh on planning customized trips for myself and friends. He has a network of top-rate guides and driver/guides and a wealth of knowledge that allows him to plan out all the logistics. On my first trip we were fortunate to have Hugh himself drive us about gardens and castles in the Cotswolds. On every trip we were well taken care of, and every detail was handled, creating a relaxed and enjoyable trip for us. Hugh developed a customized itinerary for each trip to meet our desires, considering dates that places were open as well as travel time. Even better, we were able to adapt the schedule along the way to accommodate the weather or to experience a special opportunity (or to allow more time for shopping!).
Hugh took care of all the travel details, except flights. He selected wonderful guides, arranged comfortable hotels, set up transportation to and from the airport (if needed), suggested restaurants and made reservations when we asked, booked tickets for gardens and castles, and communicated with the hotels during the trip if needed. He thought of every detail, even ones that we hadn’t considered. He was knowledgeable of the areas we traveled through and answered lots of questions.
I would happily use Hugh again, and will be planning another trip with him soon. Enjoy your travels!

This was an incredible experience! We asked Hugh to give us a tour of England and Wales. This was a family trip that included three generations. Hugh did an amazing job organizing our two-week itinerary in a way that made this trip meaningful and engaging for all of us. Having Hugh organized things and driving made it easy for us to relax and enjoy every minute. Wanderlust has a fantastic network of local guides. We connected with these guides when we arrived in new places; they were informative, entertaining, and they brought history to life. Although it’s been a month since returning from the fantastic trip to Great Britain and Northern Wales that Wanderlust Private Tours arranged for us, we are still talking about how great a trip it was.
My friend and I have been making an annual “buddy“ trip for over 35 years to destinations all over the world, so we have a pretty good idea of the elements necessary for a memorable adventure. The trip that you arranged for us checked all of the boxes, to whit:
To help us prepare for the trip, you sent a useful list of resources for us to read about or look up that helped us understand in advance the sites that we would be visiting.
The accommodations at the hotels and Manor House where we stayed were top-shelf, not only with regard to the rooms themselves but also with regard to the accommodating, friendly, and professional staff.
The local guides who took us on tours in London, Oxford, the Cotswolds, Liverpool, Northern Wales, and Manchester, were without exception, friendly, informative, and accommodating, with a willingness to adjust that day’s tour in whatever way we wanted.
Finally, Neil, our driver, greatly enhanced our traveling experience. Our vehicle was always exceptionally clean, he was always on time (early, actually) picking us up or getting us to a destination appointment, and his background knowledge of Great Britain and its culture and customs made him a great conversation partner and added a great dimension to our travel experience. A big bonus was finding out that he plays in a 70’s rock and roll cover band, which gave us the opportunity to talk about (and sing!)lots of 70s hits.
The meals you arranged for us and the restaurants recommended to us by hotel staff easily put to rest any concerns about finding excellent cuisine in Great Britain.
There was nothing that we lacked and nothing we would want to change about our trip, and we would highly recommend Wanderlust Private Tours to any travelers seeking a fantastic and reasonably-priced tour.
