I had an issue with a mountain bike I had flown with the night before. I was in California for Sea Otter, so really wanted to be racing well. Gebhard had a look, realized he could squeeze me in to his overall schedule, and we got things handled same-day.

By no means do I expect this kind of service, nor should anyone, from a small shop that has a load of repairs in the queue, sometimes you're just hoping for a favor so you can go into the weekend without bothering any of the on-site mechanics and be less stressed. Veloro came through. Thanks, dude! See you next time I'm in town!

Over the years, Gebhard has been great. I've gone there for soft goods, replacement bladed spokes, and for help with an insurance claim. It is a small shop, but he has great stuff on hand, and he is very nice and knowledgeable.

I had a disappointing experience at this local bike shop and feel compelled to share my feedback. Initially, I chose this shop because of its seemingly impeccable 5-star rating on Google Maps, although it appears they may have selectively removed negative reviews. Here's what happened:

When my bike's rear wheel hub malfunctioned, I brought it to this shop for maintenance. They assured me they would investigate and inform me if the repairs became costly. After waiting for 3 days, I received a call from them explaining that they had spent a total of 45 minutes disassembling the cassette, removing the rotor, and examining the hub. They then reassembled it for testing, only to disassemble it again to identify the freehub issue. Consequently, they informed me that the hub was broken and needed replacement, but unfortunately, they didn't have the necessary part. Instead, they offered to replace the entire wheel, quoting a staggering price of $600. Naturally, I declined their offer and requested to pick up my bike.

Upon arriving at the shop, I was astonished when they informed me that I owed them $75 for the time they spent on the unsuccessful repairs. I find it perplexing why they invested 45 minutes on an issue they should have known was unfixable, and it's disheartening that I was expected to bear the cost of their inability to resolve my bike's problem. Adding insult to injury, they had the audacity to attribute the broken hub to my bike being "cheap," despite it being a $2500 investment.

To resolve the issue, I decided to take my bike to REI instead. Not only did they promptly replace the hub, but the total cost, including parts and labor, amounted to a mere $50.

The unprofessional manner in which this bike shop conducted business and their lack of respect towards me as a customer left a sour taste in my mouth. I strongly advise against seeking their services for repairs.

Poor experience here unfortunately. Was struggling to tune my front derailleur (it seemed to require excessive tension in the cable), so I came in to see if it was broken.

The large mechanic dude took a look, but his suggestions as to what was causing the problem frankly made no sense. Anyone with a modest amount of mechanical intuition could discard his theories out of hand. Tried to explain this to him kindly and politely, but he was extremely condescending and just smirked. (I later implemented his suggestions just to check and can confirm, yep, they did absolutely nothing to help the problem.) I left thoroughly unimpressed.

For contrast, I can say I later went to chain reaction bike shop nearby. The mechanic there was respectful, explained my model of derailleur has known flaws, but twisted a few knobs and got it tuned well enough in about a minute!

The moral of the story: go to chain reaction instead. This place is not friendly and the mechanic didn't know what he was talking about.

Wonderful bike shop! Although I still feel like that is still an understatement. The staff is incredibly kind and you can feel their infectious, great energy as soon as you walk in! To top it off, the turn around time for my repair was quick. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning for any future biking needs!
