From marine biology to the identification of birds to the migration of humans all around Alaska, Scott covered it all! It was such a phenomenal experience to use his sound amplifying device to hear every chirp of every bird on Gull Island, & Scott was able to correlate them all! Scott even changed the itinerary to drive back to see a rare humpback whale! We saw eagles, puffins, a whale, so many migratory & native birds, islands, the fjord, glacier, etc.! The pace of the entire trip was so pleasant with the coffee/tea & snacks in between. The dynamic life cycle of the oysters and the history of natives were so impressive and impeccably delivered! I learned so much and highly recommend Scott’s Natural History tour!

Informative, personal tour with majestic views. Great small group tour with Scott. He is a passionate steward of the Kachemak Bay and is a wealth of knowledge. Highly recommend for those who are seeking wildlife viewing with excellent explanations of the historical highlights.

Scott was great on our tour. We headed out of Homer to an island to view seabirds -- kittiwakes, puffins. Then to Halibut Cove to visit an off road village. Visited the coffee shop and then art gallery -- bought two really nice pieces of a puffin and a snowy owl from a local artist. Scott had lots of good information about the Homer area. Really enjoyed our time on the tour. Would certainly take another tour with Scott. Highly recommend.

Scott gave my wife (born and raised in Alaska) and me a wonderful wildlife tour of Kachemak Bay last August. Due to some technical issues, posting this review is late. In short, we totally loved the tour! Hard to imagine someone with such a breadth of knowledge about the natural environment and the social conditions surrounding the Bay. One of the many enjoyable parts of the tour was Scott providing listening equipment on board to hear the birds on a nearby rock. My wife loved that experience as you can tell from this photo. We highly recommend Scott's tours to anyone who wants to learn and experience the natural wonders and social history of beautiful Kachemak Bay.

Scott was an amazing guide not for only showing us the local bird and marine wildlife, but for also educating us on the geography, culture and languages of the indigenous people within Alaska. We will definitely go out with him again during our return trip to Homer.

Tutka Tours took us on a guided tour to the bird rookery in Kachemak Bay. The nice captain Scott shared his knowledge of the birds and marine life and interesting facts about the bay and the boat harbor. He had sound amplifying equipment allowing us to listen to distinct bird noises and excellent binoculars for each guest to bring the birds up close. The catamaran ride was smooth and he reviewed boat procedures making me feel safe. Overall it was an excellent experience and I would book any of his tours in the future!

We took the 5 hr Natural History tour of Kachemak Bay. We were given a walking tour of the Homer Boat Harbor, a thorough introduction to the boat and all of its safety features, and then were issued personal flotations vests to wear while on the boat. The rest of the tour included a visit to Gull Island, an introduction to using a parabolic microphone with a recorder and headphones to record and experience the sounds of the various bird species on and around Gull Island. We were taken to the oyster farms in Pederson Bay, and given an interesting overview of a growing Alaskan marine industry. Following that, we visited Eldred Passage, Sadie Cove, and the mouth of Turks bay. We viewed eagles, sea otters, seals, porpoises, and a number of seabirds. We were given snacks and beverages. Scott (our knowledgeable and gracious captain and host) introduced us to the geology, archaeology, and cultural history of this amazing area. He made sure the photographers in our little group had plenty of opportunities to film birds and marine mammals both. Scott is obviously enthusiastic about providing his customers with a top-notch natural history experience. His broad knowledge base is a real attribute and contributes to the quality and our enjoyment of his tour. We had a delightful day, learned a lot, and we’re able to take many good wildlife and scenic photographs. This is the second tour I’ve taken with Tutka Tours, and I am hoping I have more opportunities to go out on the Silver Wake in the future. I very highly recommend!

Scott was a great guide. We saw all the bird species we hoped we would, and was extremely accommodating. Highly recommended for a good tour of park.
