We got married at Turning Stone Farm in August 2019, and it was a truly amazing experience from start to finish. Originally we planned on getting married in upstate New York, where my husband is from, but even doing a backyard wedding for our guest list size was costly and felt like a hassle. As a result, we looked farther out, and couldn’t have been happier with our decision. Jennifer, the owner of the barn, was prompt and responsive the entire planning process, and helpfully connected us with local vendors for all of our needs. Every one in Greensboro who is in the wedding industry knows each other, which was a huge help sifting through potential vendors and for streamlining the process day-of (and every one is super nice, including her son and daughter who helped us with sound and day-of coordination). We arrived on Friday around noon and left on Sunday, and I was able to coordinate a private yoga session on site for all my bridesmaids in the morning with Sophia (highly recommend to anyone!). The barn is beautiful, it’s a unique and magical spot for a wedding, or any celebration, really. It’s dog friendly and kid-friendly, if that’s what you want at your wedding; there’s plenty of places for both to run around without worries about cars, getting lost in the woods, etc. There is beautiful art decorating the wall and an eclectic chair collection, and the bridal suite is spacious and super comfortable. There are cool little side areas (connected to the main area but separated) with comfortable chairs and tables, where we set up the bar, which was great for our older guests later in the evening or friends when they wanted to get away from the dance floor. The tables and chairs provided by Jennifer and included in the rental fee are high quality, comfortable, and gorgeous. While weather was perfect on 8/24 (a nice 70 degrees and mostly sunny), our rain contingency plan would have been perfect as well—inside the barn in front of the big open window and rain on the barn roof. The fairy lights and “wooden cathedral” effect of the high ceilings lend itself to a beautiful, warm, relaxed, and slightly whimsical theme, which feels rustic without being totally in the woods or country. Truly, pictures don’t do the “feel” of Turning Stone Farm justice. One thing I really enjoyed about it is that Jennifer lets you decorate and encourages your creativity — we added fairy lights, dusty rose runners to the farm tables, huge lush bouquets (from Eva at Blossoming Bough in Greensboro, VT, who I also highly recommend), and filled thrifted mismatched glass vases with water and floating candles for extra warmth, all tied together with silver dollar eucalyptus and gold accents. While it’s a bit more work on your end compared to someone who decorates for you in an all-inclusive package, you can really make it your own. To be honest, though, the venue carries itself; it doesn’t need much at all because it’s so stately and special. We got married in the garden, family photos in the pear orchard, had cocktail hour by the barn, and enjoyed the reception in the barn itself. We had a bonfire at the end of the night and some friends stayed over night to camp on-site, and others stayed in nearby Air B&Bs (we provided a shuttle that ran back and forth). The one thing I wish I had clarified was when the night would end - I was under the impression that we were allowed to hang out until late as long as we kept music low, but we had to start clearing people out around midnight. However, the barn is attached to Jennifer’s home and I completely understand wrapping up around then, especially with a bunch of people around a big fire after drinking for several hours. Regardless, it was an amazing evening and Jennifer and her lovely family really made it happen. They were a joy to work with and the space is beautiful—I’m still hearing compliments directly and through the grapevine. Thank you so much Jennifer and the TSF team!

Buyer Beware

We wanted to warn others looking for a wedding venue about the experience we had with Turning Stone Farm in Greensboro.

In November of 2022, we had narrowed our decision for our venue to two properties, one being Turning Stone. We asked both for sample contracts etc.

When Jennifer Betz replied with contract, she included that there were other couples interested in our 10/4/24 date.

Feeling that pressure, we made the emotional decision to book Turning Stone as not to loose the date.

*The deposit was HALF the cost of the venue* It clearly stated that the half was non-refundable*

With that said, within a few months of booking, 2 of our parents underwent serious medical procedures limiting their mobility. Turning Stone Farm is not mobility friendly. It became apparent we would NOT be able to have our wedding there.

We have been in regular contact with Jennifer for over a year now, with the summary of our interactions being, "we'll see about you getting your $6,000 back if the date was re-booked".

Mind you we have an email showing there were "other couples" wanting our date prior to us booking.

We accept full responsibility for our emotional decision, but wanted to WARN others about this business practice as we feel it was unethical.

$6,000 for doing nothing in exchange, with a prime wedding weekend to re-book seems excessive.

Please be cautious. Weddings are an emotional, expensive experience. We'd hate to see others out their hard earned money.

We got married at Turning Stone Farm in September of 2022 and despite having visited the venue a few times before and being very familiar with the area, the wedding night still managed to exceed our wildest expectations! Not only is the farm a uniquely magical and beautiful venue, there is the sense that the barn and it’s surrounding are not merely a backdrop to your wedding, but a part of the event itself. Our guests all noted the “choose your own adventure” feeling of our wedding, as people enjoyed music and dancing indoors, the massive bonfire out back, or spreading out on the lawn to look at the blood red harvest moon that rose over the field! No matter which way you turned, Turning Stone Farm delivered something amazing.
In addition to the beauty of the venue itself, Jennifer Ranz was exceptional at helping us put our big day together. Communicative and attentive throughout the entire process we also were greatly aided by hiring her as a day-of-coordinator, as she was familiar with all of the vendors and ensured everything ran smoothly, so we could focus on our family and friends. She also took the time to get to know us and better understand what we wanted so that the wedding we had envisioned was brought to fruition.
If you’re looking to get married amidst the majestic grandeur of the Northeast Kingdom, there is no better place than Turning Stone Farm! Plus, Jennifer’s two dogs are the best!

My husband and I got married at Turning Stone Farm in 2022 and cannot say enough wonderful things about Jennifer, her team, and her gorgeous event space. My husband was born and raised in Vermont and we knew we wanted to get married here, but so many venues we looked at felt cookie cutter. Turning Stone Farm is the real deal, and the restoration job is beautifully done.

Jennfier helped guide us in how to use the space to best suit our needs, and did a flawless job of coordinating and setup, even keeping an eye on small details we'd forgotten—like making sure our ceremony flowers got moved inside for the reception and moving our polaroid cameras to a place where people would remember to use them. She and her team are so kind and lovely to work with. We're so glad we had our wedding here!

My partner and I got married here in September 2022. We are SO grateful to Jennifer for a magical day!

We initially were drawn to Turning Stone Farm because of its beauty, its secluded nature, and the story of the barn. We had toured other venues and felt that they were more "wedding factories" where weddings were happening all the time. We did NOT get this vibe at Turning Stone, as Jennifer only has one wedding per weekend and really works with you the whole time. Beforehand, she was very communicative through email, and she was very helpful in the week leading up to the day as well. We also hired her as our day of coordinator - and I'd highly recommend that! She helped with all the vendors coming in and out so that we didn't have to worry about that.

Also, on the day of the wedding, my wedding party got ready in the apartment and it was so helpful to have that be right there on site.

We would highly recommend Turning Stone Farm!

This was the most beautiful venue I have ever visited. We originally found them on the Knot wedding app, set up a time to visit and instantly fell in love. We looked at several place and none stood out like Turning Stone. I literally had to double check the price because I couldn't believe this huge beautiful space would be this reasonably priced. Getting ready for our wedding was a breeze, they took care of everything and even stuck around during to make sure everything went smoothly. All ew needed for decoration was literally flowers because the lighting and the set up in the barn was so beautiful it needing absolutely nothing...we didn't even cover the tables because they were so beautiful. Jennifer had a vendor list ready for us...from transportation to food and everything in between. Everyone was extremely affordable and beyond friendly. Our wedding would not have been the same without this wonderful place and wonderful people.
