We stopped here during our road trip from FL. It's ok. I have to be honest. We were actually expecting a lot more. There's only a very small handful of buildings and they're all completely empty inside. Not really anything to see.

There is a small entry fee to the grounds which was $5 a person. To be honest paying $10 for us to see the shell of six buildings was not something we were actually happy about.

There are lots of free-range goats which is pretty cool. But that's it.

I would not actually recommend this place and we definitely won't be going back.

What an amazing gem tucked away off of Alabama River Parkway! Mitchell was our "gatekeeper" and he is the BEST! Very knowledgeable with a sense of humor! We were first time visitors and treated like family! The lake, the island, the goats ?, swimming, float launch area! Tent and RV campers, all smiling and waving. New couples and expecting couples were being photographed in the ideal light! Will visit again, with a tent and a picnic ? check it out!

This was not a planned trip for us, but we loved it regardless! We are definitely planning to go back when it's a little cooler. We paid $5 a person to stay for about an hour, but you can stay all day for $5. If you enjoy fishing, take your rod and reel!

Very unique place. I think $5 gate fee. Lots of room to roam and lake that surrounds the island is pretty. Suggest big spray. Boat ramp. Looked like partial hookup campers there. Goats will climb on your car.

Just drove in to check out camping areas. Lots of goats free ranging. Cool old movie town. On the water for kayaking, fishing, boating. Very clean and well kept. Will camp there when it cools off.

Let's start with I am a huge Tim Burton fan, so I was super excited to get to visit this place. It was disappointing though just bc of the fact that the buildings aren't being kept up. Which is sad bc Big Fish is such a great movie and to have a place like this for people to come visit is just amazing but again it's not being kept up. It's a shame.

Wonderful place! Easy gated entry, lots of room to explore on the island, so peaceful, and of course the goats were so much fun to hang out with. Loved the movie set! I think people who are upset with the condition of the buildings maybe didn't read the sign that says they sandblasted them for the movie when he returns and finds it rundown so it was left that way when they were done filming. I respect the owners decision to leave it as-is and thank them for sharing it with us!

Jackson Lake Island is well worth the detour from your beach trip. Located not to far from the interstate. 5 dollars per passenger.
