How can I explain how perfect this venue was? At first I was very hesitant to book this venue due to feeling it was surrounded by a street and the possibility of cars during the ceremony. But let me tell you how wrong I was. I mentioned the next day to my family, I did not even notice the cars. They even forgot the cars were driving on the street as well. Not one single guest even mentioned it because you can’t tell the cars driving near by! When you enter the venue, it’s a whole different world. Our ceremony was outside, and we were completely secluded and sucked into the beauty of the venue.

Let’s touch base on how amazing Leslie and Akua were! They helped this wedding go flawlessly. Akua actually ended up being a bartender the day off. It was refreshing to see her being our bartender the day of. Leslie was available at any time. She helped to make sure that the wedding went smoothly with the help of my wedding coordinator as well. She was such an asset. I really loved being able to plan a wedding with them. We have planned this wedding in about two months and enjoyed every minute of it.

This venue is smaller than others in Miami, which makes it so special. We had about 84 guests and it was a perfect number. Everyone was raving about the venue and the location. This is the place to be!

While the actual building and space outside are beautiful, the owner Leslie is difficult to work with (please see the many other reviews by other people that also say this!). She is rude, unorganized, and will do as little as possible to assist you once you sign your contract. I was lucky enough to have Amanda as my planner (who no longer works for the venue) and without her I would not have gone through with having my wedding here. I had a small wedding of 70 people and the venue was the perfect size for us. If you're having over 70ish people I wouldn't suggest having your wedding here as it is a smaller more intimate space. I also highly highly suggest not having your wedding here if you are not going to have a wedding planner who can do all the communicating with the venue (talk to Amanda at That One Little Detail!) in order to ease your difficulties with Leslie. However, all of that being said I did really enjoy my wedding day and the venue was beautiful and the food was delicious. I just can't stress enough how different that would be if I had to do my planning/wedding day with Leslie so please get a wedding planner (use Amanda at That One Little Detail) if you're going to have your wedding/reception here!

Wow. There are no words for how amazing my experience was at the Womans Club for hosting my wedding. Amanda was the most calming person to work with, and she was with me from start to end. She acted as my day of coordinator and worked with me plenty of times up until my wedding. Included in my venue was the bar, food, DJ and all decor. I provided my own hair, photographer, cake and floral. If you want a beautiful Miami wedding, and you do not want to break the bank... I HIGHLY recommend coming here. I would not change a thing.

My biggest recommendation is to get Amanda as your point of contact. My experience with Leslie was much less than desired, and I definitely felt a stronger connection to Amanda. Amanda is very attentive, kind and is very detail oriented. The same experience was not done by Leslie.

If you are ever considering doing a party there, please do not do it. Don’t get me wrong, my wedding was great, we all had a great time, but not because of the venue planner, Leslie. My mom and my mother in law had to plan everything themselves, get the flowers themselves, everything was done by them. My mom was insistently disrespected by the vendors Leslie try to get us to contract. Leslie is also very unorganized person and will tell you one thing and will do another because she apparently “thought” we chose one thing and “lost” the paper where she wrote her notes to see if she was actually in the wrong or not. She’s lies constantly about the costs of everything, and a lot of things end up being much more than she had said they’d cost. It’s extremely infuriating and sad to see your parent struggle to give you a great wedding and not getting the proper and decent help they deserve, and that was never delivered.
So, do yourselves a favor, if you end up doing a party there, contract your own party planner or do not do it there at all.

Flora McFarlane, the first woman homesteader in the area as well as its earliest school teacher, founded the Housekeeper's Club (today's Woman's Club of Coconut Grove ) in 1891. This was five years before Miami was even a city. It is the oldest civic group in Miami. Aware of the feeling of isolation that pioneer women could feel in the area Flora wanted a place where women could find fellowship and camaraderie. The club was created with the goal of "community uplift," which was achieved through fundraisers that paid for needs in the community. The club motto was "lend a hand". The promoted literacy and education. Their first project was to raise the money in 1894 for a Sunday school which later became the historic Plymouth Congregational Church. The fame of the Housekeeper's Club spread quickly. Within one year of its inception, Harper's Magazine, a major national publication, profiled the club. The Woman's club became the social hub of the city holding concerts, parties, and performances. Through the years they supported important causes like preserving the Everglades, a library, a girls ranch, cancer survivors, teaching children to swim, and canine companions. Over 100 years later the Woman's Club is still going strong and supporting civic activities in the community.

Today you can rent the historic Woman's Club for weddings and private events. The building was designed by Floridas first registered architect Walter de Gamo and it was completed in 1921. The building is made of stucco, oolithic limestone, concrete, and stone. It is a rectangular shape with a gable roof and wrap around porch. In 1975 it was added to the United States national Register of Historic Places. The club has been renovated and special occasions can be booked through CG entertainment. On the night I went by a wedding was being held so I didn't get a chance to look inside but they have extensive pictures on their website. The club looks like a lovely and historic venue to hold a special event. An added bonus is that you can cross the street to get pictures along the water as well.
