I cannot recommend this desination to you enough. It is more than just an amazing property. The owners and staff are truly wonderful as well. I just finished a weekend retreat here with my Beyond Driven brothers, and we were immediately welcomed like family. The food was excellent. And considering this is a "camp" - the cabin quarters were cozy and felt more like home than a sterile hotel room. And there is so much to do! We went zip lining and skeet shooting. Enjoyed warm bonfires at night. The family dogs were always close by and it felt like we had therapy animals with us. Coco was by far my favorite. She would bark with excitement every time she watched us go down the zip line. Like she was cheering us on! The entire weekend was catered as well and the food was fantastic! If you get the opportunity - I highly recommend adding their Tiramisu to your menus. Also ask about the "beach burgers". The secret recipe puts them over the top! My heartfelt thanks to the owners and staff for making this an unforgettable memory for all of us!

We were genuinely excited about the possibility of having our wedding at The Retreat. The setting is beautiful, and at first glance, it seemed like a great fit. Unfortunately, the experience ended up being incredibly frustrating and disappointing.

We had a simple but important request: to have outside kosher food for a small number of guests who keep strict dietary laws. We weren’t asking to forgo their catering—just to bring in meals to accommodate religious needs. The venue refused due to fear of liability and had no willingness to explore reasonable workarounds like guest waivers, additional insurance, or even discussing the options the caterer presented like naming them on their own insurance. We felt like we presented many creative and reasonable solutions that absolved them of liability and there was no legitimate reason to not move forward.

Worse, we were consistently treated like an inconvenience. Messages and emails were ignored for days or weeks at a time—if they responded at all. We were never given the sense that they valued us as potential clients or were interested in helping us create a meaningful, inclusive event.

This experience left us feeling dismissed and disrespected. If you’re planning a wedding with any religious, cultural, or dietary considerations—or if you just expect professionalism and responsiveness—this may not be the right venue for you.

My husband and I were guests at a destination wedding for one of our family members and it was very fun! At first, we had some issues with the AC unit, but the staff and owner were quick to help fix the issue. I so enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and variety of outdoor activities! We really enjoyed “The Beach”. My daughter got sick while we were there (throwing up) so I called the front office to see if we could get more towels. They were quick to respond and even brought trash bags, gloves, and Lysol cleaner just in case.

Overall a good experience.

My only drawback was that there wasn’t a ton of indoor activities (as it was hot), but then again maybe I should’ve looked more into it! Thank you Balcones for a lovely weekend!

The Retreat at Balcones Springs will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Our wedding weekend at The Retreat was simply perfect. I loved seeing family and friends from far and wide reconnect around the many available outdoor activities. We all channeled our inner camper!

The headline events, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, cocktail hour, wedding dinner and reception, were all perfectly executed! And don't get me started on the food... every meal was beautifully presented and delicious.

Inside tip: get up early for the scones prepared by a celebrity chef!

Finally, Christine and her staff are simply the finest... always making sure our needs were met without being intrusive.

In my estimation, Christine is the perfect swan... making everything look so calm and effortless while paddling like crazy beneath the waterline! I will always regard her as a friend.

It is truly a gift to share this special place and people with the ones you love.

Outstanding wedding celebration at The Retreat at Balcones Springs!! We had over 200 guests and Christine and her entire staff were so attentive to every detail - it was a magical, beautiful event! Everyone enjoyed the upscale cabins, delicious menus, the fun activities and beautiful grounds...a weekend to remember!

Our group spent 3 days at this retreat, the staff and accommodations were amazing. The food was incredible and the available activities were great. We really enjoyed the skeet shooting, zip lining and had a blast playing archery tag. I highly recommend this establishment if you are looking to plan a retreat weekend in Texas.
