My Aunt and Uncle recently moved into the Gables at Winchester after several years of considering their options for senior living, and it was the best decision they could have made!

Starting w/ Kristen in sales - her patience and understanding of the emotional and practical challenges to move from their home of 50+ years to the Gables was exemplary. She answered all of our questions, several times over, with patience. A relatively new employee, Fajila, was compassionate, understanding, and incredibly helpful. The Exec Director, Rafael, was professional and easy to work with during the process. The nursing staff was really amazing too. They took care of my Uncle’s needs without hesitation! EVERY person we interacted with was friendly, caring, and engaged.

There are interesting activities and programming too. The food was very good, and the waitstaff were great.

The facility is very well maintained and designed for senior living. The grounds looked great especially for March in Boston.

I am so grateful to the team at the Gables in Winchester for providing my Aunt and Uncle a safe environment staffed with wonderful people.

My dad lived at the Gables for almost two years. He went a bit reluctantly at the age of 95. He was recovering from Covid and his children talked him into going for one month. Within one week he decided maybe he'd stay two months. Eventually he signed a lease and moved his furniture in. He was the mayor of the place. Within days everyone knew him, and he knew everyone. He played bridge, participated (and likely led) a Bible study, joined a book club, and signed up for many of the field trips. He loved the people, loved the food, loved being there. And they loved him back. As a daughter that visited regularly, I was immediately struck by the warm, loving, and friendly nature of the place. It was clean, bright, and cheerful. Everyone that worked there was top shelf! I brought my young grandchildren to several holiday events, and these events were always a big hit for my family and the residents. I highly recommend the Gables. Don't wait as long as my dad did! Eventually he admitted that he should have gone there sooner.

My mom moved here about 18 months ago with some reluctance to leave her friends and home behind. The move occurred while my father was ill, and therefore it was an unsettled time. The staff made my mom very comfortable and helped tremendously with the transition. She enjoys many of the social activities offered both onsite as well as those in and around the Boston area. Staff support - health, hospitality, maintenance, dining, reception - all extremely friendly and attentive. Her apartment is spacious and perfect for her needs.

My family is very grateful for the caring, and outstanding staff as well the comprehensive services available and provided by the Gables in Winchester.

When my mother moved into the Gables she experienced an enhanced assisted living environment for retired individuals.

From daily check-ins with staff, to full meal and bistro dining options, housekeeping, maintenance, home care aids, and transportation services the Gables truly has thought of everything you might need at some point during your residence with them.

Lovely apartments with easy access to elevators and community areas, residents truly have the independence they desire along with the personal and home services they require.

The Gables coordinates additional home care and nursing services with other agencies making sure residents have the care and medical supervision they may need.

A lovely, well staffed dining room provides residents a community dining experience and if a resident prefers a meal in, delivery is available.

Every meal provides menu options.

A dedicated bus can be reserved to take residents to medical appointments in addition to transporting groups to outings, such as to a restaurant or shopping center or museum.

Seasonal outings are offered including foliage rides, Holiday light viewing, and trips of all kinds in the surrounding communities.

New activities such as Life Stories, Tech Support, a Blood Pressure clinic, and Flu and COVID Vaccine clinics have been added to their schedule.

This alludes to what is possibly the best feature of the Gables - the plethora of fun, social activities that are available on a daily basis. Regular weekly activities include exercise programs such as chair yoga, exercise to music, strength and stretching, corn hole and bean bag toss.

Residents can take advantage of challenging and brain enhancing activities include trivia, crossword, puzzles, and current events. A book group and well stocked library are available for use.

And last but not least the key to all the wonderful features at the Gables is their dedicated and compassionate staff, who truly make an effort each and every day to provide a welcoming and caring environment to everyone here.

I feel very comfortable and well taken care of! I have been here four years. The staff has always been very accommodating. I enjoy the variety of activities, there is always something going on for me to attend. I like that it is big but not huge, giving it more of a homey, family atmosphere. The Gables welcomes my family when they come to visit as if they were living here too.

Gables review 10/20/2020

My mother’s move to the Gables has been a huge success. She has lived here for about a year and half. Both my mother and her daughters feel safe knowing she is in such good care.
She was reluctant about making this move - but the hotel like atmosphere with opportunities to see and get to know other residents has been a positive addition to her life. Along with having a lovely apartment and so many meals offered. The community atmosphere has allowed her to feel connected. Her daughters all live out of state - but know that the staff is a phone call away. We were able to experience all the positives of the Gables when my mom took a fall in her apartment and returned from rehab. The staff was excellent at the transition of returning to her apartment and providing the proper supports for her to become a independent resident again. After moving here she is now is able to navigate all the Gables has to offer with a walker along with getting some exercise.
In terms of Covid - the Gables has kept the residents protected while allowing them to visit outside with the right distancing. They have kept the families informed with timely E-Mails.
The Gables has offered us everything promised plus more. We are very satisfied with our choice.
