A lot of interesting information. The museum is very informative. Yes the museum is small but they are working on the new museum right around the corner which will be finished by next year but it's worth going to go see the artifacts and the video and all of the information about an incident that for the most part wasn't talked about and forgotten. Go and hear their story.

The most important disaster you never knew about. Overloaded steamboat explosion overshadowed by other news. They’ll give you a great presentation & look forward to their upcoming move to a larger location

If you haven’t visited this museum, you should. Free (donations accepted) and open to public, the small museum is staffed by hospitable and knowledgeable staff. Our guide Melody was a wealth of information! Although the museum is small, they will be expanding. They tell the story of a frequently overlooked piece of American history, and a horrible maritime tragedy. Don’t miss this hidden gem!

Tiny museum but worth a look if you are interested in the Civil War or the Sultana tragedy itself. The volunteer was a super sweet lady full of stories and facts. Cute little town too just ten minutes from downtown Memphis.
