We recently rented the chateau with our teenage daughter, our adult daughter and her partner. We were transported to the good old days; sitting around the table, playing board games, laughing until we cried, and eating way too much. Gene and Karen are wonderful hosts. We ventured out minimally; we were so content to just, be. We are already planning our next vacation. Thank you, Gene and Karen, for sharing your little bit of paradise with us. Today is August 29th 2023. The new sunset picture's are from our stay in mid August 2023. They're the last three of our downloaded picture's. We rented cabin one and the Stone's Throw cabin for our son and his family. As always the cabins are fantastic, the grounds always looking great. Gene and Karen are super hosts. It's the perfect get away location. Thanks Gene and Karen for providing such a great vacation spot. Once again treated nightly with beautiful sunsets and amazing morning sunrises. End of August 2023 review. We are shocked that there's so few reviews for Stones Throw Chateau. But get why. It's a special place and hidden gem. Gene and Karen are kind accommodating hosts. The grounds and cabins are very well taken care of. We were sad that are two week stay ended. We'll try to make it back for the fall colors. If you're searching for a getaway location you should seriously consider Stones Throw Chateau you won't be disappointed.

We had a wonderful time at Stone’s Throw Chateau. The cabin was clean and had a fantastic view of the sun setting over Lake Mille Lacs. We enjoyed fishing, geocaching, and visiting the two nearby state parks.

Rented out for a getaway weekend, highly recommend. Well-maintained property and the owners/hosts are genuinely nice people who were pleasant to interact with during our stay. Convenient water access, short drive to stores and restaurants, multiple nearby points of interest. Lake traffic was relatively minor. Photo was taken from the couch in the living room to give an idea of the view.

We stayed at the Stone's Throw Chateau for a small family reunion (6 adults and two kids under the age of 5) in early July. This place is absolutely perfect! It's a great distance from the cities -- far enough away to feel close to nature and "unplugged" but still close enough for a quick weekend trip (only 1.5 hrs). The hosts, Karen and Gene, went above and beyond to make our trip special. They were available for any questions that we had and prepared both cabins beautifully. The property is absolutely lovely -- picturesque views of the lake, perfect location on a bay so it's a bit quieter than the rest of the lake, ample outdoor space (including decks off of each of the cabins, a dock that allows for great swimming and boating, and a large space for lawn games) and all the supplies that you need to enjoy it (fire pits, grills and tons of outdoor seating). We are all looking forward to staying here again in future summers!

We rented both cabins for a long weekend just after the 4th of July, for a bit of a family reunion, including small children. We are return visitors and as usual, the cabins were wonderfully comfortable, and Karen and Gene went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we needed.

The weather couldn't have been better for swimming, boating, grilling, and some mean games of volleyball. And somehow, Karen and Gene even managed to arrange a spectacular night time light show thanks to a distant thunderstorm.

I highly recommend the Stones Throw Chateau for sun and fun, or for that quiet getaway.

We have stayed at Stone's Throw several times, first for our honeymoon, and now we try to get back every year for our anniversary, and every time we stay, we love it more and more! Gene and Karen are the perfect hosts, and not only supply all of the needs for the cabin, but always have great suggestions for anything you might need outside of the cabin. Any questions you may have regarding restaurants, parks, grocery, entertainment, they know the area well, and are always willing to make suggestions. The cabins are perfect, from the decorations to the supplies, to the location... true paradise! We love it there so much, its always so hard to leave. I guess that's why we keep coming back! Great fishing, quiet evenings, BEST sunsets you'll find!! Thank you Gene and Karen for another great vacation.

Perfect is the word. Amazing hosts. Beautiful really clean stocked cabins and grounds. Every night a incredible sunset as added picture will show. Different every night. It was hard to leave after 6 nights. On the way home it was decided that we needed to book another 6 nights. Emailed Karen when we got back and it was set up. We can't wait to get back up there for the fall colors.
