Saw it as I was riding by on a cross-country trip via motorcycle. Stopped, none of the boops were available but they had a camping area by a Slavic gentelman. Was taken to the top of the property, which was remarkably awesome... many camp sites but only reachable by foot or by side-by-side. A Mexican gentleman dropped me and my bags off up there, probably 10-20 stories up from where I was told to park my motorcycle. It was amazing, sunset, full moon rise, saw a rocket pierce through stratosphere creating a "twilight effect". I was told that someone could come and get my two 50-60lb bags at 9am. Went down at 9am, and the Slavic gentleman told me I would have to hike my bags half way down the hill. Bizarre. I waited for the Mexican gentleman, who was rad, and he took me all the way to the top. So, would go back but that was a strange interaction. Would definitely like to see what it would be like to stay in a boop.

Such a fun place to stay!
The pods were clean and super unique, if youâre looking for somewhere a bit different to stay at big bend then I would definitely stay here.
We had a lovely sized pod (8) and this came with a seating area and wasnât too far from the bathroom / car park.
On arrival, we were met by a very friendly guy who took us up (with our luggage) to the pod in a little buggy - thankfully, as it was about 30 degrees, which is hot for us!
We went out for dinner and came back to sit by our pod to look at the stars, it was awesome.

The space cowboy domes are a great place to vacation on your trip to big bend. The domes were very spacious with comfy beds and a perfect view of the mountains and night sky. The staff is super friendly and are there to make sure your stay is a great one. Would come back for my next trip out here.

Loved our stay at Space Cowboys. We were the first to stay in pod 012 and we loved it. The view is beautiful and the stars were very bright. The flight seats were a cool touch. This is the perfect spot with easy access to Big Bend and Terlingua. Slava and the gentleman helping us with our luggage back and forth were great. Would definitely book again!

If youâre looking for silence and a stargazing experience - this is it! Space Cowboys has been my best âglampâ experience so far.
They are a short drive from Big Bend which definitely made it a 10/10!
Highly recommend. Chalo was very nice and professional during our stay and helped us get our luggage to our pod. The restrooms were clean and well stocked and our pod was out of this world! đœâš Canât wait to be back!
Be aware about Terlinguaâs light rules. Make sure to bring enough lamps if youâll be outside your pod.

The location was fantastic and the management was super flexible for a last minute issue to get us in. Would recommend to anyone looking for a cool stay near Big Bend or passing through. Great mix of spending time outdoors and the pods/facilities were kept well with high end service.

I have no regrets about my choice to stay at Space Cowboys for our girlâs trip to Big Bend National Park and Terlingua last weekend! ||Experienced campers will call this glamping, experienced glampers will call this "roughin' it." I would consider it a perfect âin between.â In fact, I would lean toward the former: the pods have A/C and heat (and both workedâwe experienced a 30 degree temperature drop overnight and rejoiced over this feature), 2 bathroom and shower units, queen size mattresses with linens and towels, a refrigerator, and a host of decorative pieces to get you into the theme for your stay. ||Everything you see in the picturesâlittle alien men, fun starlight projectors, etcâis what youâll find in the pods and throughout the property. (I am especially intrigued by the 90âs JTT lookalike on the soda vending machine, but as an elder millennial, this *would* catch my eye.) There were creative details, is what Iâm trying to say. ||Outside of your *cutely* decorated pod however, you are solidly on desert terrain. This is not a resort (nor does it purport to be), do not expect a concierge or to have room service available to you. You should bring all the things you would do when visiting a dark sky community out in the middle of the desert, such as water, hiking boots, a headlamp, and other essentials. Firewood can easily be purchased at one of the nearby stores as you approach the property. And you should, because Pod 12 has a private fire pit! ||In addition to what is already mentioned on their website, I would point out the following for anyone considering staying in Pod 12 specifically: ||- Fitness: They are not kidding when they tell you that Pod 12 is a 3-4 minute uphill climb from the parking area! Do not overlook this detail when considering this pod. A little self-awareness goes a long way here: will you be tired after long day of hiking and annoyed you have a little bonus workout waiting for you when you get back to the compound? Do you have a disability or condition that makes it hard to walk on rugged terrain? Do you think youâll be too tired to hoist yourself up after a couple margaritas at Starlight Theater? In the pitch dark if you forget your headlamp? If you answered yes, maybe consider a pod closer to the bottom.||- Wi-Fi/Connectivity: We had intermittent service at best inside the pod. Outside the pod, if you walked around a few feet (closer to the bathroom), wifi would appear. If I were to come back for a longer stay and want to work remotely or need better connectivity, I might consider another pod closer to the parking/check-in area where the signal was strongest. ||- Awesome Views: The lovely man who helped us up the pod when we arrived, Chalo, said it best: This is the pod with the best view. Pod 12 distinctly overlooks the Chisos Mountains, which more than compensates for the 3â4-minute hike up the hill. And, just a few feet up from the pod is a small trail head that leads you to the very top of the compound, which features benches, fire pits and a wide-open space to gather and take in the best views. CHalo--te agradezco toda tu ayuda! ||- Privacy: Pod 12 seemed to be on the farthest upper-right of the property, which made it feel perfectly private while still being part of the overall community. We didnât feel compelled to lower the privacy curtain, as the dark sky was enough. Waking up to the mountain view was also such a giftâit really felt like it was just us and the mountains having a little staycation, with the remaining pods beneath us.||- Bathroom: The website says this pod features a bathroom. It does notânot yet, anyway. My understanding is that there will be more embellishments to Pod 12, to include itâs own, standalone bathroom. The small trek to the communal bathroom is not badâthey even provide you a little lantern for the walk down should you need to go at night. Pro-tip: use your headlamp for night potty breaksâthe lantern light can only go so far out. ||- Fitness: They are not kidding when they tell you that Pod 12 is a 3-4 minute uphill climb from the parking area! If you answered yes, maybe consider a pod closer to the bottom.||Oh and, donât miss the opportunity to check out Peso Supreme if theyâre playing in town đ

What a great and fun place!! We love trying out unique places to stay and this one was a gem. We stayed in Pod #9, at the very top of the hill. We were a good distance away from other pods, yet very close to the upper restrooms/showers. The attention to detail here is stunning. Everywhere you look there is a little something to capture your imagination. Little green men, murals, space themed items, etc. A bonus was the hiking area at the top of the mountain. There you'll find swings, benches, fire rings, and incredible views. At night you can open the huge curtains for a fantastic view of the starry night sky. The Geminids were in full swing during our visit and we were not disappointed with the number of "shooting stars" we saw. We kept the curtains open all night as there really isn't any reason not to. There was no one around to peer in. You still get the feeling of privacy, abd at the same time, you almost feel like you are outdoors. Just so you are prepared, the trek up to the pod is steep, as is the path up to the top. Both WELL worth the effort. A heads up for your shoes and pant cuffs, the main road up to the top is very dusty. The owner and staff are super friendly and make sure you have everything you need. This was one of the easiest 5 star rating ever - HIGHLY recommend.
