Great place to learn the history of Sloss Furnace & the corruption of Alabama government with our prison system.
We got locked in on our visit. The man at the front didn't bother to tell us a time it closed. He told us to take our time. The young lady security guard found us & we did get them to reopen to purchase our items. I will be doing an article on Sloss Furnace & Alabama's past & present prison system of leasing out prisoners and the profits made from it with no regard for prisoner safety.

Sloss is a really interesting place to visit and learn how Birmingham became what it is today. Unfortunately we had to hide out here while waiting for the storm to pass before we went outside to view the Thunder on the Mountain fireworks show for Independence Day. The staff were super nice and made sure everyone was updated and as comfortable as possible while it rained.
