The Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum is small but quaint. The main office contains the usual train paraphernalia and two working train sets ( Lionel and HO scale ) to play with. The staff was very friendly and informative. In the yard there are a few Boston MBTA trolley in disrepair. The site of them brought me back to the days when I would ride them to school. The totally refurbished and working yellow trolley is a masterpiece of when things were made well and meant to last. I appreciated the iron works and the masterfully constructed wooden interior. The manual train cart give visitors the change to experience of knowing what it takes to get the cart going and stopping. The tickets to ride the trolley are very reasonable and I would recommend anyone visiting the area to make this one of their stops.

Despite being small this museum is quite interesting. A short ride on the restored story gives you a real feel for what it was like. The conductors give an informative presentation with old photos. We enjoyed the visit. The pump car was fun to ride too.

Great, great, great staff. Super knowledgeable of both present and past. Super friendly with us as adults and the children as well. We were able to ride and use 3 of the equipment available. Would do this again. Both kids and adults loved it.

This place was amazing, very friendly people who run this great place. The trolly was built back in 1896, and theres an amazing story that goes along with it. The only reason why this trolly is still in existence is because of Love..lol it's TRUE. Mr Johnson use to ride the trolly all the time back in the early 1900's and while riding this trolly he met the women of his dreams, it's TRUE, they fell in love and married and spent there life together. But in 1926 the trolly had stopped running and at one point the trolly was going to be sold off for scrap and Mr Johnson found out and he couldn't let that happen, he didnt want to see his memories destroyed, because back then they would of sold it and they would of burned it so they could get the steel and metal of out it for scrap, Mr Johnson couldn't let that happen so he offered to buy it. The trolly was then transported to his farm, it cost Mr Johnson $100 for the trolly, and back then a $100 wasent easy to come by in 1926, living on a farm wage, and that wasent much. And so the trolly sat in Mr Johnson's field for over 60 years and in 1990 the restoration started and as you can see today it's up and running perfectly.
This place is a great place to bring kids and have fun. Theres plenty to do there and theres plenty of things to ride on. The Museum and gift shop is amazing, and this place is all ran on donations.
If your in the area or you dont have anything to do check this place out, I live 20 min away and I'm definitely going back, we didnt have enough time to check the place out in the hr we were there, but we still had a great time and plus they have an old hand pump cart you can ride on down the tracks, but the only way to ride on it is if you let the 94 year old lady who runs it, take you for the ride, and yes I said it, 94 years old and shes still going strong, I wish I had my picture taken with her when I was there, Next time I go I'll get the picture. Any train lovers out there, will love this place..

They only have one restored 19th century trolley and a couple of unrestored PCCs. However the staff is great and very informative. You can ride the restored car as well as a hand pumped car.
