Excellent stay at Sheep Mountain Lodge. The entire property is very well maintained, and the beds were comfortable. We stayed in the mountain house, and really enjoyed our stay. The mountain house is large enough for a family to have space, and has really amazing views out of the windows - front windows and porch have nice mountain views, other windows have nice views of flowers and nature. We liked that there was nice seating area on the front porch, and also a large common spaces with comfortable couches inside when the weather got a bit colder. Staying in the house we had the option to cook for ourselves or enjoy the property restaurant a few steps away. Restaurant food was very good, and an easy place to pick up a morning latte -- and the most amazing fresh oatmeal cookies! ||We also did the lodge's summer ATV and gold panning tour. The ATV tour was a lot of fun (our guide was great) and we had fun learning how gold panning works! ||Also, Lodge is conveniently located near the Matanuska glacier - so we were able to a tour to walk on the toe of the glacier as well. The Lodge also has helicopter tours to the glacier - looked like fun, we just ran out of time at this trip. ||We would definitely stay at Sheep Mountain Lodge again when in Alaska.

What a wonderful place to stay or stop for a great meal! We only spent one night in their very comfortable and gorgeous cabins, but it was fantastic! A beautiful setting with so many options if you want to hike or take a helicopter ride. The restaurant served some of the best food we ate during our entire 10 days of traveling in Alaska. Highly recommend!

Came in late July for the restaurant - stayed at nearby Alpenglow - and couldn’t have found a better spot. We had the fried cauliflower and salmon spread to start, and both delicious. I then had the halibut, which was perfectly cooked, moist with a beautiful sauce. Really outstanding. My wife had fish & chips, which she loves, and says they were the best she ever had. The couple with us had salmon, and after I traded bites, I have to say it was as fresh and delicious as any I’ve had. Had the strawberry rhubarb pie, which we were too full to eat there, but made for a fantastic treat the next day. The staff was great - pleasant and gracious. We plan to return to the area, and will definitely return.

We stayed 2 nights at Sheep Mountain Lodge, my hustband, my son and I. We had the best stay. We had a Premium cabin and it was better than we expected, the beds was really comfy and the porch with the chairs was perfect with a beautiful view. |The staf was wonderful, easy to talk to and really helpful.|The resturant had the best food for morning, lunch and dinner.|We went on a helikopter ride with the owner Mark out to Matanuska glacier and it was an experience of a lifetime - we were the only ondes out there and Mark gave us time enough to walk on the glacier and he took pictures of us for memoires.|We had the time of our lives, so thank you so much to Mark and his staff.|Warm wishes from family Uggerholm|Denmark

The room was nice. Bigger than we expected and well-appointed. We had a amazing dinner at the restaurant. And then a fantastic breakfast the next morning. Genuinely friendly and attentive service. Gorgeous spot! Overall - Well- maintained and clean. Loved that there was hiking trails right out the door.

We stayed at Sheep Mountain Lodge for two nights in June, 2024 and enjoyed our stay. The cabins are first-class with everything we needed including full kitchen, plenty of hot water and fans. We ate several meals at the restaurant and enjoyed the food. We hiked the trails on the property. We saw moose in the area but did not see any on the property during our hikes. The locals say the moose are like squirrels in that area. We were close to Matanuska Glacier and the Twin Lakes Area. ||We would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed the restaurant and view of the mountains at sunset. The waitstaff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the spinach artichoke and crab dip, and the blackened fish and salad. Outdoor and indoor seating was available, and they had an extensive beer menu. Parking was available in a gravel lot, and they sold some souvenirs as well.

Mark, Mary, and the whole team at Sheep Mountain really made our wedding weekend spectacular! We got some amazing wedding photos on the glacier and Mark even accommodated our request to make a grand entrance into our wedding ceremony on the helicopter. The pictures are stunning and the memories will last a lifetime. They took care of all of our guests like they were family and threw us a delicious farewell breakfast at the restaurant. We can't recommend them highly enough. Looking forward to our next trip up already!
