We will have to return another day, it seemed closed, but parking lot was open. My review is on the experience we had in the winter.

We went to the grounds to explore and have a beautiful hike in the snow. I have heard wonderful things about the grounds; that it’s a hidden gem. I hope to one day return when it’s spring or summer and truly experience what the preserve has to offer.

I do, however, wish the parking lot was closed if the trails and center are both closed. This would offer people a better understanding to not enter. We parked, walked around hoping to walk the trails and felt as if we were violating many rules due to the signage that is placed everywhere. Many signs to read with instructions. We did not walk the trails or go inside any structures, for they were closed. We went to other preserves on the same day to get nature photography shots and felt more welcomed to enjoy the wintry aspect of nature. If you are planning to visit this establishment I would call ahead or check in with their online/media page before making a trip out.

Beautiful grounds, lovely area to sit and watch hummingbirds. Tons of hummingbird feeders and other types of bird feeders. Prime spot for birdwatching, even in winter. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

well managed nature preserve with a unique ecosystem. stairwell is currently not operational so tours are not being done of the canyon, but you can see it from the main path a little.

Quarry, trails, saying, and fossils. Be ready for a lot of walking and the long nature trails. Fossils and sky walk programs. Ski rental. Very knowledgeable people. 2 areas close together.

The shops were really cool and the museum was interesting. The mounds were alright... however, there was a feeling of spiritual neglect to the mounds, as you realize people are mostly there to make money and there's not much thought as to investing in beautifying the nature part

A private residence has erected structures preventing access along the canyon with personally printed signs dictating no access on behalf of the county yet no county employee or official was involved in this action. Can someone from the FPD look into this? Private residents tried to eject me from the trail as well.

Although I was there on business and not pleasure, I found myself lost in the multitude of bird and plant species. They boast adventures in things such as bird watching, nature walks, and even skiing. They also host functions for children and encourage community volunteering for such events. Im goping to take a look at the waterfall on my next outting there. Take some time off and enjoy all of the sites available.
