This was my first guided ride experience & first time on a horse. The owners, Heather and Scott, were delightful! They made me feel calm and confident with the horse. All the horses that were going on the ride, were very well behaved. I could tell they were very well taken care of. The trail was beautiful and it was just long enough to where you are ready to hop off at the end. It was a lovely experience. I highly recommend if you are a beginner to check them out! Can't wait to go back!

Guides were very clearly knowledgeable about each of their horses and their quirks, and they were very helpful for an inexperienced rider. Do come early as there's a waiver to sign and initial, helmets to size, and also just the process of getting mounted. Also pay attention to any notes about your horse, as they really do have a whole lot of personality!! Overall the tour was a very cool experience, I just had to make sure my horse didn't try and eat too many of the unhealthy plants around the trail. Definitely would go again!

Planning a fun day at Oak mountain state park starts with a horseback ride at Rusted Roof barn. The owners are great and make my husband and I feel welcome. The horses are amazing and calm. The ride itself is wonderful and being out in the woods on a horse is very calming. This group of riders were very diverse so that made it for me who just moved to the US even more fun. My very heavy Caribbean accent was no problem for the owners and that was a great plus! My husband and I def. going back soon because I am a horse lover. I think about taking lessons at Rusted Roof, so good was my experience!

My daughter and I, who had never been horseback riding, decided to go, and it was beyond amazing. At first we were terrified at the thought of being on a horse because we are not outdoors or nature kind of people but the owners were so warm and friendly and the horses were so sweet with there individual personalities that it felt natural. I rode Scout, and my daughter rode Pippi. The view on the trail was also amazing. This was the highlight of our whole trip. I can't thank the owners enough for such an amazing experience!!!

We had a wonderful experience riding these calm horses. I went with my son’s middle school class. The owners were knowledgeable, friendly, and excellent instructors. Social distancing and mask wearing were upheld. Our ride through Christmas Tree Trail let us a a part of the park we haven’t seen before. Even the most horse shy in our group enjoyed the ride. The Rusted Roof Barn is such a great feature in Oak Mountain State Park and the Birmingham area.
