It's just a historic marker where the Famous Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat. But a powerful reminder of how far we have come. Stop by and read the markers and have a moment.

It’s touching to stand at Rosa Parks Bus Stop and imagine what was going through her head on that morning as she boarded the bus. Almost hard to imagine these days but taking a stand against what you feel is wrong is not an easy thing to do. This was a small lady with very big courage and I believe it is right that her courage is commemorated with the statue and plaques that mark this spot.

Great statue for a brave and honorable woman and American citizen. Well deserved. It's free.
Easy to get walking or there are many meter parking around it.

What a sham. This was a pre-planned bus ride with a promise by a communist organization (NAACP) that fame would come about to anyone who stood up to the man. They had pre-selected someone else, but then realized that getting Rosa to do it would garner more support. Do your own historical research. This isn't a big secret. It's just not taught in schools as truth. No surprise there.

I'm giving this a 5 star rating because I was there with an absolutely wonderful tour guide, Ms. Valerie, on a Saturday morning at 10 from the Visitors Center on Court Square in Montgomery. As of so many things, I knew something about Ms. Parks and her historic act of defiance. Through Ms. Valerie, I was able to fill in a lot of blanks. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough.
Even without the aid of the story, the life size statue of the impeccable little woman emanates a quiet strength, a timeless dignity.
You can see the freedom riders museum from her corner.

It is one thing to read this in the books and another to be present on location where history was made that paved the path for so many of us to have equality and freedoms and to promote a more perfect union of our nation.
