My wife and I had a wonderful weekend away and felt so relaxed and renewed after our getaway. It was truly an unforgettable experience from beginning to end, firstly the staff were so welcoming and kind, greeting us by name, and offered us delicious welcome drinks. Our room was beautiful and faced the forest and had a vintage large soaking tub, we also had a lovely bouquet of flowers in our suite on arrival. We enjoyed dinner on site and the food was very delicious and we enjoyed a beautiful meal under the stars. Some of our favorite experiences were the jacuzzi under the stars, the waterfalls and river. You are also only a few minutes drive from the Giant Sequoia which is an awe inspiring experience. Thanks to Carl, Delaney and Dani for making our stay so special.

When we arrived, Jonathan showed us our very lovely and clean room. There were snacks and beverages available in the room, as well as a pristine freestanding bathtub to relax in. Out the back door of our room was a short walk to view the beautiful North Fork of the Kern River. At 8:00 AM we enjoyed a delicious complimentary full breakfast at a large community table in the lobby. One of the nicest experiences we have had at a very reasonable price.

The staff was super friendly during our 1 night stay. We did have the room in the main cabin and it was just wonderful. We went out for dinner, but could have gotten some delicious fresh cooked meals on site. Breakfast had plenty of food and a big variety and was prepared fresh in the morning.
The beds were very comfortable and the room was very big. Please keep in mind that you are in the middle of the forest so you don't expect a Four Seasons room. It's rsutic style really has its charm which made our stay really cozy.
It really is a gem in the middle of nature. The waterfall behind the main cabin was very calming just listening to it.
If you are looking for a quiet place to be calm and have a lovely staff around you, I can only recommend this place. Big thumbs up and will definitely be back in the future.

This is a lovely retreat to disconnect from everyday life. There are no electronics there but wi-fi is available. There is a waterfall nearby that you can hear once you exit the room, and it is such a peaceful environment. They have a gazebo, jacuzzi and many other places to sit where you can see the stars at night.||The staff members are troopers and are doing a fantastic job of making sure that you feel welcomed and that you enjoy your stay. The room was very clean when we entered. It's a perfect place to retreat and I will definitely be coming back here if me and my partner visit the Sequoia Forest again.

I was pleasantly surprised by my stay here. I was looking for a place to stay for one night that would give me access to the Sequoias. I’ll be honest - I didn’t give much attention to the title “spa” while booking. Having gone back and read other reviews, I could see how people who’ve experienced a true spa experience would be disappointed. However if you are willing to make use of what’s offered, you won’t be disappointed! The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. I arrived after dinner time and the manager himself made me a late meal, which was hearty and delicious. Breakfast the following morning was complimentary and included a spread of eggs, pastries, pancakes, waffles, yogurt with abundant toppings. All was homemade and I ate communally with the other guests which gave it a homey bed and breakfast feel. There was a massage chair in the front room and it was amazing! I took advantage of the gorgeous property the lodge sits on, a few winding trails that reward you with waterfall after waterfall. Just breathtaking! I took a cold plunge in the water then a dip in the hot tub after. My room was clean, bed was quite comfy. No complaints, especially given the rustic description. I was traveling alone and never felt uncomfortable or unsafe, even with the remote location. The drive in was lovely, sad to see the effects of wildfires on the surrounding area, but to me this had no impact on appreciating the beauty. I made the 10-15min drive to the Trail of 100 Giants and was in awe! I would gladly stay here again!!

We visited in the fall. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The location is so beautiful and peaceful. Service is excellent from checking in to dinner room service. They have a hot tub on site, private paths to explore the property and an outdoor meditation area that overlooks the river. The sound of the waterfalls made the whole place so peaceful. We had ricotta lasagna that they make on demand. It was fabulous! They offer free breakfast with our stay. They had a big variety to eat. FYI it's a vegetarian cuisine, so don't expect meat. The rooms are nice. The retreat is in the country so we could hear scurrying feet of creatures near our room. If you're boujee and expecting a luxury spa, this is not the place for you. It's older and rustic.

Website is an accurate representation of the experience. Didn’t know what to expect from the reviews on google because some people were acting like the website wasn’t accurate. We wanted to splurge a little on a fancy room between camping days. Was very pleasantly surprised and wished we’d planned to spend more time on the property for reading and drawing. Value is shockingly good considering it was not much more than the basic hotels in the area (we booked the most basic room). Looked exactly like the photos, overlooked river which you can hear. I’d come back here just to relax on the property for a weekend in nature. It seems like there are like 10 total rooms and that’s what you see on the website. Very private. fruiting pear, apple, and plum trees and a waterfall right on the property. We stayed in early September. Didn’t get placed in a camper so maybe call ahead if you don’t want that.

This property is 'run down' not 'rustic' as the website suggests. It is at least 30 miles outside of Kernville up a desolate mountain track with nothing near to it at all. We had been to see The General Sherman Tree and it was about 4 hours drive south from there. It was hard to find. The property is badly in need of money spent on it and a 'tidy up'. The beds were comfy and clean and it was evident that sinks, toilets and baths had been cleaned. Hand cream and a bath bomb had been left as gifts. Everything else was tired and grubby. The air conditioning system was not sufficient and very noisy - we were all very hot. John bent over backwards to make us feel welcome- cooking us meals and providing a nice breakfast- he seemed very tired. I felt sorry for him. I think the 3 members of staff were working very hard to please us but the property is old, worn out and needs some money spent on it desperately. There was no spa evident. I went out to the shallow waterfall and sat on a rusty swing seat and got mobbed by flies. Thousands of leaves everywhere- unswept. There were flies in my bed, sink and bath. There is a kind of border around the top of the room with two double beds in which is literally covered in spider's webs and spiders- not sure it's had a dust for a while. Kernville is about a half hours drive away - the lodge is literally in the middle of nowhere. The food we ordered was good but expensive. We had no choice. We asked if we could have a glass of wine with our meal (which we happened to have with us) and this was very much frowned upon. John asked us how long we were staying- he seemed to have no clue what we had booked. He said he'd been there a week - it was all a bit strange. We were all very uncomfortable here - it was tired, grubby and unkempt and John seemed to be a bit of a 'one man band' trying to keep everything afloat. A good concept when it was up together I'm sure- but not at this time- this place has seen better days! I would absolutely not recommend. It should be removed from booking.com until the owners can put a truthful description of the place on their website or improve it so it is visitor friendly. My adult children were actually scared to sleep here for the night and we left the next day. We paid for two nights but only stayed for one.
