Penumbra is located on the outskirts of Cottonwood (and Clarkdale), about 30 minutes from Sedona, fifteen minutes from Jerome, and less than two miles from Tuzigoot National Monument. Overall, a terrific spot! Cottonwood has numerous restaurants, wineries, and curio shops (we can recommend the Tavern Grill on Main Street and Merkin Winery /Trattoria, up on the small hill).

The accommodations are wonderful, as others have stated. Clean, modern, very comfortable, well-equipped. The shared outdoor fireplaces are really nice in the evening.

The views to the north/northeast are wonderful, looking over the Verde River, hills, and mountains - great sunset material. However, be aware that the other half of the view (north/northwest) overlooks an RV park and a concrete plant (we think), and then up towards Jerome. Additionally, we heard some periodic low rumbling sounds (trucks on the road, possibly). We recommend Suite 5 as it is farthest from the road and enjoys windows on the side as well as front/rear. Overall 5 stars, definitely!

A beautiful, peaceful place to get away from it all! All new, fresh and clean!! Amazing shower with a "rain" showerhead and instant hot water. The kitchen had everything we needed to fix meals. I loved sitting outside on the portico eating breakfast and watching the ravens fly overhead. The room was very spacious and gave me and my daughter space and privacy. It is an amazing clutter-free space that is very restful. Also felt very safe since the parking lot and walkways are well lit at night without being any problem to the rooms being dark for sleeping. I highly recommend!!

If visiting Sedona, this is the perfect place to stay! The view is simply stunning! The property is very peaceful and relaxing. I loved the trail down to the river. The rooms were beautifully decorated with a sleek modern look and incredibly clean. This will be a place to revisit!

Modern design, clean, quiet, and relaxing. Fabulous views. Extremely hospitable. Only a couple minutes from old town Cottonwood, which was by far our favorite place in the Sedona area during our trip.
