This is the main visitor center where you check into the park. If you have young kids that are doing the junior ranger program you can get the booklet here and they can get the first stamp. The line can get long for checking in but the park Rangers are great and knowledgeable about the park. There is a great park map to orientate yourself to the park. This is also where you can get a fishing permit.

Fantastic starting point for your journey through the park. Rangers tend to be introverted by nature, but ask a few questions and you’ll get lots of great inside information. I’ve been going down to BB for over 30 years, and some of my greatest experiences have been the result of tips from park staff.

The visitor center did not disappoint. Spacious, clean, ample parking, and the staff was so knowledgeable and nice. I really do believe they were glad we came to Big Bend NP.
The campgrounds were a bit on the tight side, but we weren't there to stay in the campgrounds. We went on several hikes and have so many great memories.
Next time we come back, we will stay for the week, at least. What a nice place.

Entirely functional as a visitor center. I was going to only give it 4 stars, but then remembered it has a post office attached to it, so you can buy postcards and then easily send them. The little garden path has some good variety. I would say the Chisos Lodge has better gifts overall though.

Men's room door desperately needs oil, you can hear it screech open across the parking lot. Also, no paper recycling when they have other kinds of recycling puzzled me.

Excellent visitor center and staff they answered all our questions and gave us some good ideas and options for hikes and what to see. Really cool and informative displays on the park and its history, as well as detailed maps for driving and sightseeing. Nice gift shop with books and the usual stuff to buy. There is also the cheapest gas station within 100 miles right next door and should be the go-to gas station in the area.

One of the busiest and biggest visitor center in Big Bend National Park.
The visitor center has lot of interesting exhibits, gift shop and a theater.
It is very kid friendly and the rangers an are super nice and helpful. Kids can get the junior ranger batch and get their national park passport stamped. Overall we had great experience.

These rangers need your support. Wonderful people. They spent 30 patient minutes with me planning our desert hike. They helped interpret maps, plan meals and water and take safety precautions. Don’t let Musk or anyone else tell you these people are not necessary. This is about safely enjoying the greatest treasures of America. Thank you, Rangers!
