I live close to these woods. I give four stars due to the caretakers of these woods. The Village of Romeoville? Forest Preserves of Will County? Don’t know but they really need to clean up a ton of deadfall. Also why not make more actual paths on the other side of the creek? I love these woods but they need some maintenance.

I entered the trail next to Romeoville village hall. It starts paved and you can continue on or take the natural surface trail. This trail and preserve is absolutely gorgeous! Nice and woodsy. So calm and serene. It was a beautiful walk.

One of the best places in the area to see spring ephemerals. The forest floor will be covered with a carpet of virginia bluebells by late March. Tons of other species are out here as well. Be careful not to crush them as you walk along the many paths!

We had our family picnic there. Plenty of parking at the bottom of the hill they allow you to drive your car up to the hill where the Pavilion is to unload and then you could drive back down to park in the parking area . WOW the Pavilion was very clean the playground was steps outside the Pavilion where the kids could play and we could keep an eye on them . They had a bean bag toss game outside the Pavilion. The bathrooms are unbelievable, very clean they had running water, flushing toilets, paper towels, toilet tissue! So happy no porta potties .Also plenty of clean garbage cans and plenty of clean tables, will be back for another family picnic loved it!!!👍❤️😁

This trail is awesome! When I looked online it says it’s only a 1/2 mile but the trail is bigger than that for sure! We enjoyed going from prairie land trails and tall wild grass into the woods and we eventually came up upon Romeoville’s village hall where there’s a super nice playground for the kids. I will be back to explore more. So happy to find this gem.
