My boyfriend and I did a 4 night safari through Tanzania and it was everything I hoped for and more! Erik helped guide us in our planning 100% of the way. Our guide Isaya was truly the best. Made sure we were comfortable, safe, and saw all the animals. Especially lions! Also our accommodations were great, ranged from glamping tents and resort stays. It was the best first safari I could have asked for. Highly recommend, can’t wait to do it again! Thanks again Off Cape Experiences!

Second review - Editing my review below because the tour was so good we went a second time, this time focusing especially on a school that Erik has connections with in line with his thought of "travel with purpose". Our adventure was filled with amazing sights, fun and new friends. Erik is continually hard at work behind the scenes, while always being friendly and calm. He thinks of every detail. One example dealing with food allergies in the backwoods of Tanzania, another his grace and kindness when I had a family emergency back home. He works out of Cape Cod but has 20 years of travel industry experience and partners with the best local guides, some of whom are local legends. His trips are either scheduled or customized. He has visited upwards of 80 countries. If there is somewhere you have been dreaming of ... give him a call.

First review - We made a recent trip to Tanzania with Off Cape Experiences. It was an experience of a lifetime and combined a wonderful safari with getting to know people, especially at a fantastic school that Erik, the organizer supports.
Erik was an amazing professional, being on top of details right from initial questions, with no item too small. He was always attentive, for example checking eating preferences and coordinating with hotels. He took care to find things we would like to do such as a bike ride in addition to usual safari and we found ourselves in the wild, away from typical tourist spots. He is able to tailor an experience around personal preference, for example whether luxury or more adventurous, amount of driving etc. His team in Tanzania is excellent, you could tell how respected our guide was among other local guides.
What stood out for me was the social aspect, we visited a school that Erik supports and this was humbling and life changing.

This trip was amazing! Erik put so much thought into planning the right trip for our group, and it really showed. We explored a wonderful variety of places and took part in incredible excursions. Our local guides were awesome, sharing all kinds of interesting history, culture, and customs. The afternoon breaks were perfect for recharging before heading out for more adventures in the evening.

We have traveled with Off Cape Experiences before and found the same attention to detail and personalized service on that trip as well. Without a doubt, we will be traveling with Erik again!

We are so glad we used Erik and Off Cape Experiences for our trip to Tansania. Erik has great contacts there, and our trip went without a single hitch. Our guides to climb Mount Kilimanjaro were absolutely the best. I wouldn't have made it to the top without their support. And our driver for our safari was just amazing. My wife and I recently took a 10 day trip to Tanzania with Off Cape Experiences. This was the second time we trusted Erik Schoon with our “once in a lifetime” wildlife safari. It was so good the first time that we had to go back!
It began by discussing questions with Erik such as accommodation grade including swimming pools, use of short flights to hop between locations, what animals we wanted to see, and the opportunity to see more of local life. Based on our answers he then tailored the safari for us. On the safari we had a guide/driver and we also chose to have Erik accompany us. During the safari Erik’s planning and attention to detail made the entire journey seamless and stress-free. From start to finish, he managed countless behind-the-scenes logistics including talking to the chefs to accommodate my food allergies—a thoughtful touch that made all the difference.

The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly our time spent watching and photographing the incredible wildlife in the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater. The landscapes were breathtaking, we saw herds of wildebeest following the great migration and big cats preying on them, colorful birds, and pods of hippos just relaxing in their pools. A significant part of this experience was thanks to our local guide, Swai, who is one of the most experienced guides in the area. We realized how well known and respected he was from hearing his name being mentioned in the radio chatter between other guides. His thorough knowledge of the region and the wildlife together with his expertise as a mechanic, ensured that we were always in good hands, no matter what. The team of Swai and Erik made sure that during our safari we spotted animals and birds that would have gone unnoticed by less experienced eyes. Yes, we saw the “big five” on both our trips.

Another meaningful aspect of this trip was the opportunity to support a local school. This added a sense of purpose beyond traditional tourism and gave us more insight into the way of life.

Although Off Cape Experiences is a smaller operation, it is one we would wholeheartedly recommend. The personal touches, professionalism, and passion they bring to their trips make for an unforgettable adventure. If you’re looking for a unique and expertly planned journey to Tanzania.

Off Cape Again!
We used Off Cape again this year to go to Tanzania! My wife, daughter and I went to climb Mt Kilimanjaro and to go on Safari after Erik shared some of his experiences with us about the country. It was one of the best trips we were ever on. Erik had us with absolutely BEST guides who got us to the top of the mountain. Erik had us with BEST guides on safari who got us right to the animals. The internet is full of climbing and safari guides. We saw them in action and heard the complaints from our fellow travelers. Erik's crew were heads and tails above the rest! It makes a big difference in the trip who you use. We were in such great hands with them. Off Cape Experiences is the tour company to use. Thanks again Erik!

This trip was organized and planned to perfection! This is my fourth time to be a trip leader for small groups traveling through Norway but this was our first time to use Erik at Off Cape Experiences. I will never take a group again without using his excellent ability to curate all the necessary details for an overseas trip with a group. We were 10 people. Because of Erik’s attention to every hotel, trains, tickets for activities, etc., my co-trip leader and I were able to give our full attention to planning (beforehand and during the trip) how to best inspire, develop community, and offer a transformational experience. I strongly recommend anyone planning group travel that you use Erik at Off Cape Experiences to handle the design of the trip and all of the details. He is highly skilled in travel experiences, will custom design to meet the needs of your group and is available when needed, even as you travel. All in our group, including myself, agreed- this was a trip of a lifetime!
