While there is ALWAYS a line, the reason is, the wait is worth the effort, even when it is cold. There is a sheltered part, at least from rain, if not cold. Everyone gets about two LARGE grocery bags of shelf-stable items, including dry beans and rice, canned vegetables, etc., always with some nice things added. Just because someone is poor, doesn't mean they don't deserve to enjoy life. They offer a selection of a couple loaves of fresh, very nice breads/bagels, and usually, a sweet tread, like Little Debbie brownies or whatever, then there is the fresh vegetable/fruit table. And then, there is the grab-bag outside, a LOT of "stale" baked goods that are fine. You can have as much as you want of them.

I am SO thankful to anyone who has donated. When I was widowed, and lost half of our income, half of our food benefits, and needed desperate home repairs, I thought I was going to lose everything. This food bank helped me keep what we had worked so hard for, by helping me not starve, or have to choose between food and utilities, or medicine. I haven't been in a while, because things had taken an upturn, but with what's going on now, I need to.
