We had a fantastic white water rafting trip with guide Big Joe. The water is 50 degrees year round. Included several big rapids but was overall a fairly chill trip. Would highly recommend this activity with the NOC!

Went to NOC for the first time in many many years, my first time back as an adult actually. I have so many memories rafting down the river as a kid so to come back was both nostalgic and special! We had the great pleasure of having Jess as our tour guide, rafting down the river! HE WAS THE BEST. He joked, told stories, shared some awesome information about the river and the forest. i really believe we couldn’t have had a better experience, if we tried! I mean really we got so lucky to spend 2 hours of our day with him on the river. I really can’t recommend him enough if you have a chance to go rafting at NOC!
We are now counting down the days till we will be back to hopefully go down the rapids again with him! We loved NOC and all the things they do for western North Carolina! Best Sunday funday ever! (Also this is took place during shoulder season, so if you find yourself up here before the hurds of people come summer, DO IT!

Our stay at The Hemlocks at NOC was everything we didn’t know we needed. Waking up in the treetops, watching the rain roll in over the mountains, and then heading out to hike, raft, and reset — it was equal parts adventure and deep breath. The cabin was a peaceful retreat after full days of activity, and the NOC staff made everything easy, fun, and welcoming. Even when ziplining got rained out, we hit the Appalachian Trail instead and made core memories. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to mix outdoor thrills with serious chill.

This a great one stop shop for almost everything outdoors offered in the area.

The staff are outstanding and we're super friendly. Even at the end of the season, everyone was upbeat, positive and seemed to love being in the beautiful surrounding nature.

Lodging, food, brews, trinkets, tours, trips. Again, a solid one stop shop.

We had late lunch at the restaurant here. While we didn't do any of the activities, there seemed to be a lot for those that want to. Kayaking lessons, bars to hang out etc. Very serene.

Such a fun place! They have a nice store, and they also coordinate outfitter activities mostly rafting and kayaking. The whole area by the outdoor center was really neat! It was fun watching the floaters come in on the river. Floating the river or tubing looks like a great time here! And there’s a restaurant and Appalachian Trail junction at this location. You can take the Appalachian to Wesser

Great place for outdoor adventure, whether you’re participating or just watching the kayakers and rafters. Good food and adult beverages and many good seats along the river. Parking can be tight but there are extra spots in the back behind the zip-lining. Great way to spend a Summer afternoon.
