Beautiful monument of Myles Standish and Beautiful park. I got lucky on this day, and the door was open to take the stairs up to the top of the monument. The views were absolutely gorgeous. There are 125 steps/10 stories per the information. It was worth the work climbing the stairs. Great place to rake a nice walk with your dog. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

The gate leading up the hill to the parking lot was closed for some reason. The parking lot up top definitely needs to be cleaned up from logs, branches, leaves and pine needles. They also should add a few picnic tables or benches to sit and have lunch at.
Other than that it's a nice little walk to a really neat monument. Unfortunately the door was locked and you couldn't go inside. I bet the view from the top is amazing.

This site is operated by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). The monument is 116 feet tall (35.4 m) and topped with a ridiculous 14-foot statue of Myles Standish. It is supposed to be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but the ranger on duty decided to close early, so I did not get the chance to climb the 125 steps to the viewing platform at the top. At least the parking was free.

The tower itself is closed except for Memorial Day through Labor Day. Note that the gate to drive up to the monument is also closed except for the summer. It is a short 10 minute walk from the gate to the monument. It is a cool spot for a short walk, but would recommend coming during summer hours to enter the actual tower.

Myles Standish was on the Mayflower, and was hired by the pilgrims to be their Military leader.

I know BU recently removed the name of the Standish dorm rooms, because of Standish’s brutality in war and role in the ruined relations with local tribes.

Standish is a massive player in American history, and not without fault, but also not without merit.

I wish we had a statue to Massasoit’s son, Metacomet here. Both were military men, and both deserve to be remembered.

No way I can climb the steps to the statue, let alone the 125 steps to the top of it, but it is quite a statue.

Plenty of parking, and there was a ranger here too to answer questions.

Awesome memorial to one of the founding fathers. Well done in the style of the neoclassical period of the 1920s. The tower has a neat echo and amazing views. Definitely get to the top.

A great place to go for a walk. There's plenty of shade, paces surface, and beautiful views when you get to the top. If you take the climb up the steps of the monument you'll be rewarded with amazing views of Duxbury and surrounding towns.

The monument closes earlier than the park so make sure to get there early if you want to go up. Even if you don't it's still worth checking out. It's also a great place to walk the dog!

I worked a summer.job for the Commonwealth one summer at Myles Standish Monument. I had never heard of it before, but it was actually a quiet, nice place to be.
There were two of us, and we shared the work week. We were both working weekends; our off days were staggered during the week.
Before we opened to the public, a winter's full of pigeon guano had to be scraped and removed from the lookout at the top
NOT PLEASANT.

But the park area was small, the weather was nice, and the 10-6 hrs were "summer convenient."

I was.amazed by the travelers that arrived from around the country nearly every day. I realized that since it was on the map as an historical place to visit, "people would come" - as the quote says. And they did!

On clear crisp days, you could see the Provincetown Monument. But, the views from the top were really nice every day, even when storm clouds were coming.

Now, looking back, I wish I had stayed late a few nights to see a spectacular sunset from the top. But then, as a college kid, the sooner to get out and see friends, the better!
