I recommend My Humboldt Abode to any visitors of Redwood Country seeking solace in the arms of these ancient forest guardians, whether it's to stay in Samantha's lovely AirBnB or to join her in Forest Bathing. Samantha offers Forest Bathing in a way unique to her studies, as all teachers do. A trained Reiki master, she explained to me upon arrival that we would approach our Forest Bathing through the lens of connecting with the energy of the beautiful Redwood trees around us. We passed through her gate into her private yard, a space of several lovely buildings which are her home, her studio, and an Airbnb rental. Cool in the summer morning as the towering Elder trees' green branches protected us from the sun, the ground cushioned us with layers of fire-red needles under foot. I had such an amazing experience staying here over a 5-day retreat recently. The space itself is nourishing to relax in and allows the body to decompress; this includes both the accommodations and the Sacred land itself. Also, Samantha is a gentle and kind host with a wonderful sense of care. I took part in a Reiki healing and felt powerful transformation through the process. Definitely going to return!

MHA is so zen and spacious and neatly tucked away! If you've never had a chance to be up close to redwoods, the "in the middle of the trees" location is certain to steal your heart. In the summer, the river is right there, complete with dramatic tree and bluff views. The location near to the south end of the Avenue of the Giants and on the way to the Shelter Cove/King Range is ideal. I'd choose MHA over a boring and forgettable hotel stay any day! Superhost Samantha provides a thoughtful, comforting space, breakfast, guidance on great local spots, and spa services if you need some extra help kicking back. Truly, it is a special and graced place.
