Very interesting little museum. Come for the historic artifacts,, stay for the creepy little dolls and chat it up with docents who were actually some of the original European settlers on the island.

We stopped by to get a little history of Pine Island. It's run by some very dedicated volunteers, who were very courteous and friendly. There were many exhibits and lots of pictures of the Islands history. Nice place to put on your checklist.

This is a perfect compliment to Pine Island and the surrounding community. Pine Island, and Matlacha are unique small island communities with deep rich history. The museum is the small. It's small in size but holds much history and is obviously easy to navigate. While there is plenty to see here, an hour or two will probably satisfy you. There's no restaurant, but a small "gift shop" area has reasonably priced items. Inexpensive too, but suggest you check for times and prices in case they change after my review.

Rich in history and personal artifacts going way past the last 150 years. Detail of Calusa as well as early settlers in detail. Excellent shell collection of local finds and area contributions. Great 100 year history with historic pics of Matlacha. Historic photos in that section too. Manatee bones along with other marine and land animal remnants. Only takes an hour but well worth the time. Nice gift shop with excellent authors of regional island history.
