This is as wild as it gets for LA! Snow, rain, wind and wilderness as far as the eye can see. The visitor center is great too, you can see and get a vision of the early days on the mountain. You can also get details about hikes and paper maps. It’s worth it to stop at the visitor center. There is a little garden too and benches to hang out.

Only an hour from downtown LA, great local trail for a good work out. You’ll be hiking at altitude (10000 feet) on exposed terrain so bring plenty of water, sunblock, and take it slowly. To save some climbing you can take the snow lift up to connection with Devil’s Backbone. Windy at top so bring extra layers.

Had a good time with the family despite the challenging route. It’s important to note that the peak Mount Baldy has a record for one of the highest number of deaths and injuries in the US.

Please try to visit this place while it has snow! It is so majestic to know you can go from the sun, beach, to snow all in one state in less than an hr.
