Beautiful old growth redwood forest that inspires reverence. There is a newly constructed (and actively being constructed) wide trail on the west side of the little valley that tracks south from the highway. AllTrails shows a loop hike in that area, but once you get in there, there are trails all over. Don’t worry, though, you can’t get lost if you stay in the valley. The trees are stunning, the ground cover ecosystem lush and interesting, and it’s wonderfully serene. Not to miss.

Amazing hiking loop. The trails are currently being improved upon so they don't flood in the rainy season. In my opinion this rivals the famous Avenue of The Giants with some of the tallest trees in northern California. There is a very windy road from Ukiah to get here

Wow, this place was amazing. They are currently repairing the trails and the area, but the workers were happy to let us pass through and enjoy the area. Very quiet and peaceful surroundings with a few short hikes to see the trees.

Biggest redwoods of Mendocino County! It's off the beaten path, we drove around 50 minutes in from Mendocino city. The large redwood grove is a short quarter mile up a hill, but once you hit the valley it's absolutely gorgeous! There's a loop around the grove that we did not manage to finish cause the trail got water logged. It takes maybe 15 mins to hike up the hill, and maybe another 40 to fully walk the grove. Bring a jacket cause it seemed even colder than the coast. Parking can be a bit sparse, though that may have just been the new year's day crowd.

Beautiful hike, not too strenuous. No dogs allowed on the trail, 1 bathroom at parking lot. Took about 1.5 hours to do the entire loop

We have heard many good things about Montgomery Woods. Yes, the redwoods are beautiful. This particular forest was nearly one-third destroyed by fire a little more than 10 years ago. The forest and ground cover are quite resilient. Parking is a bit limited. And, it is a good uphill walk. Then, there's the mosquitoes. All good walking shoes, a bottle of water, and some bug repellent can solve. Why go visit? Well, the redwoods are beautiful and the forest is peaceful.
