Stunning views. Most of the drive is paved and part of the drive is still dirt. They’re still in the process of paving the way. Unsure when it’ll be done. Such a peaceful drive.

For nature lovers this place is amazing!! A must visit, just to relax and get away even for a day trip! It’s only 2 hours away from the east valley. Get away from hot Phoenix temperature to Payson Arizona (it was 55 degrees mid September when we went) and head to beautiful Willow Springs Lake. You can fish here or find a hiking spot by driving around! We sat by the lake for a wonderful picnic in the quiet rain. It was too beautiful and surreal to see rain on the lake!! We can’t wait to head out here again!

Drove up from Phoenix Sunday. Took about two hours and we were there looking out at the world. Actually the Tonto National Forest. A storm was moving so there was wind and sprinkles but it was grand. The clouds were floating fast toward the cliffs and rolling right up over the rim. Mountain air was cool, clear and crispy clean (unlike Phoenix).

Kind of not so special as you would be witnessing more or less similar view from other viewing points and areas as well which are close to highway. Good to travel If you want a thrill of driving off road pebble road. Few viewing points are good though.

This takes almost an hour to complete (Depending on your time you stop in between) when you start from visitor center.

Rode out on adventure bikes on a Thursday morning. Road is sandy and lots of washboard, but very wide, nothing difficult. Traffic picked up when we were headed back. Wonderful view!
