It more reminds an old museum rather than a guest house; very eccentric decor but quite dusty in the rooms. The owner is very nice. The location is good for one night on the way from or to the north entrance to the Big Bend National Park

Whimsical, quirky and charming with very comfortable accommodations. This was our second stay. Our first was the rock house, and last week was the paper house. Ingrid is a lovely and responsive host. Her collection of art and creativity is fun. The view of the west Texas sky performed for us with an incredible sunset. Absolutely the best bed and shower we had all week while in the area.

it‘s worth coming to Marathon just stay here. The whole place is art. Cozy, well equipped rooms, hot shower and clean bathrooms. Love all the little details, a place where hospitality still means something.

Ingrid is a wonderful person and I really enjoyed chatting with her. Hopefully one day I’ll return 🍯

If you're looking for a comfortable stay and an eclectic artistic experience, this is your place. If you're uncomfortable with things that are outside of the norm or don't look like the usual interstate chain motel, consider taking a deep breath and a leap of faith to have a new good experience. ||We stayed in the delightful Spitit House. To the casual eye, it might not look like much from the outside. But look a bit closer and appreciate the eclectic quirky sense of the place. Inside, is a charmingly quirky and very comfortable (and clean) casita with all the amenities you need, including toiletries, dishes and utensils, games, a mini-fridge, a microwave, and a very comfortable memory foam bed in the master bedroom. Note that each casita at La Loma Del Chivo is different and unique, so check out the website and choose one that suits your needs.||One of the other excellent things about staying at La Loma Del Chivo, is that you get to meet Ingrid, the owner and creator of this special place. If you enjoy interesting people and conversations, getting to meet Ingrid is icing on the cake.||Oh, and call ahead to book early. She takes reservations 90 days (I think) in advance, and they get booked up.

A few years ago, while bicycling across America, my friend told me that the next time I come through this area to add this place to the list. So, this year, my cat, and I, were cycling across the country and we had an opportunity to stay here.

Wow; what an incredible oasis in the desert. The unit is like an air bnb and has everything you may need.

The owners are very kind and made sure I had everything I needed. The structures are all so unique and this is where you need to stay when you are passing by.

the pack of aggressive dogs barking incessantly until 2:00AM next door will result in a fitful nights rest. this is unfortunate as i like the room. however if sleep, peace and quiet are a priority. - you will not get that as the dogs start barking around sunset and go into the wee hours of the morning without abatement.
