We have stayed in this hotel every year for about 4 or 5 years. Last year we had some issues and debated on returning this year. We decided to give it another shot with the location being great. We were very happy with our stay! It's clear the hotel has been making upgrades. Breakfast was one of the best we've had in a hotel. Our room had an updated comfy couch, halls were definitely updated. One complaint was the pool was chilly and the air in the room as well was chilly, some of our party decided not to swim because of this. Also, there is a electric car charger outside, however not functioning so we couldn't charge our vehicle. All staff were extremely nice! Overall we were pleased and will be back next year!

I found beg bugs during my stay. I wanted to leave immediately but the staff tried to get me to take another room. After checking out at 10:30pm and going to a new hotel this hotel sent automated text me to ask how my stay was going. No one from management bothered to reach out the next day or follow up. Stay anywhere else but here. It’s not worth the hassle and it’s not worth the risk.

Unfortunately, like a lot of other reviews mentioned, this place is in serious need of fumigating and cleaning. I checked in and entered my room, and the room was kind of dingy and outdated (not necessarily a dealbreaker, but worth noting). I opened and closed the microwave door, and as soon as it closed three bugs crawled out of the sides. We changed rooms, but in the second room it was clearly not clean. Bathroom doorframe had flecks on it, other walls had stains, hair in the bathroom sink, kitchen utensils were dirty, etc. We changed rooms yet again, and the last room was still dirty (sofa stains, dirty floors, etc). We gave up on this place and got a refund and stayed elsewhere. That being said, the receptionist at the front desk was AMAZING and super accommodating.

BED BUGS! This is a very overdue review from when I stayed for a month earlier this year in April/May (I thought I had left a review at the time, but it turns out I had not). Not a good stay - room had many broken items, we had to beg for a cleaning even once a week and would have to request with the front desk 2 or 3 times before we could get a housekeeping staff member to come, pool was not operational, and worst of all, we got some sort of bug in the room with bites all over. The evening manager (her name started with a D, I think maybe Dana or Dawn?) was the only helpful front desk staff who cared for us and helped us move rooms, but she promised me I'd receive extra Hilton points to make up for getting bedbugs despite paying over 200 bucks a night to stay here (x 29 nights!) but FALSE we never got anything to "make up" for the bug situation. The only thing I have absolutely no complaints about is breakfast and the amazing breakfast staff crew, who took dynamite care of us. Don't stay here.

I am usually a big fan of Hilton Hotels and Homewood Suites, in particular. Of all my past stays, this one was singularly my worst experience as far as conditions of the room and the building, in general.
First off, there are no signs guiding you to the hotel. Now I know why.
Secondly, the condition of the room was bad. The sliding door had come off the rails and hanging precariously. There were insects in the room. The sheets and pillowcases did not look particularly clean. There were stains on the sofa. The shower head and the tub were moldy. The base of one of the table lamps was messed up. The switches on both table lamps operated differently. One was push operated, and the other had to be twisted. The one bright spot was the phone charging station where we could just charge our phones by just placing the phone on it. Most of the staff were kind and courteous except for one lady who looked perpetually glum.

The night staff was kind and helpful. The room was fine except our shower (room 303) didn’t work, in the morning I asked for a new room. Employee was *immediately* crappy with me. At first I started matching her energy but stopped when it became super clear she was *crazy.* She legit yelled at me, called me a Karen for asking for a room with a functioning shower, told me she had a room with a shower but I couldn’t have it. It was legit bizarre. I had seen her yelling at another guest too but hadn’t seen the whole interaction - after my interaction I suspect the employee started the drama. I called corporate because we no longer felt safe and I had paid for two nights. The hotel manager did refund the first of the two nights but we had to find somewhere else for the second. I had booked ahead several months but luckily there are lots of hotels close in that areas so we found a better room up the street. I honestly can’t think of worse service I have ever gotten at a hotel. I appreciated the refund for the nights stay but I would have happily paid to not have that life experience. I sincerely hope that employee finds peace in life and a job away from humans.

Hotel is definitely in need of ALOT OF TLC. The rooms are not up to standard and I truly don’t think they have ever even been wiped down or cleaned. In fact the whole time we stayed here, We never once ran into a house keeper. The hallways and rooms smell stale and old. I am truly in shock that the Hiltons name is attached to this.

The staff is very friendly and the breakfast in the morning was okay.

Due to the condition of the rooms and smell we will never stay here again. Even with its prime location being right across from the field.

I travel frequently for work and, unfortunately, the Homewood Suites by Hilton Newark-Wilmington South has been one of the more disappointing Hilton properties I’ve stayed at. I'm even considering switching my loyalty to another hotel brand.

The property, particularly the rooms, feels outdated and rundown. The furniture, especially the couch, is so worn that it's uncomfortable to sit on. Additionally, the internet was down during my stay, and I was informed I had to call personally to resolve the issue, which took time out of my evening. Another inconvenience was the lack of regular coffee—only decaf has been available since I arrived.

Overall, this location did not meet the standards I've come to expect from Hilton.
