We stayed 3 nights at Prude Ranch in a RV site over spring break -- we did not see any of the other accommodations. I booked this location as it is just down the street from McDonald Observatory and Davis Mtns State Park. We reserved the Star Party at the Observatory and it was nice to pull into the site, quickly hook-up, and make it to the party within a 10 min drive or so.
I also appreciated the rustic feel of the ranch and being more remote under the dark sky. Booking was easy, communication was good, and check-in no issue (everything we needed was left for us in the office since we arrived after they officially closed). We were able to choose any open RV site so we chose the lower area near the main street. There were only a few other RVs in that location - very quiet. Minimal traffic, nice sunrise and sunset views. The showers located by the indoor pool were not bad - we didn't use the pool but it looked well kept. As were the showers & other facilities. Our teens enjoyed the basketball & volleyball courts. We wouldn't hesitate to return here again with our RV.

This review is for horseback riding (we did not stay at the ranch). The horseback riding here was an amazing value for the price! Our guide was so patient with our young kids. We had a nice small group for the tour, despite it being spring break. The horses were very well trained and easy to ride. We went on a beautiful ride with stunning views.

If you’re looking for the Ritz, this is not your place. On the other hand, if you want a bit of the old cowboy life this is a great place. Its rustic. Very rustic. But it has an authentic feel. ||We were in a bit of a pickle. We had planned to visit in our RV, but the tow vehicle broke down. They were able to get us a cabin until we could get our Suburban repaired. Anyone could have probably made that pivot, but not just anyone would do it in the kind and caring way that Mari did. She turned a trip disaster into a highlight. ||The grandsons enjoyed playing on the basketball court, tennis, horseback riding and Gaga ball.

Great place to stay as long as you come prepared. If you're not part of a group you're pretty much on your own. It's like camping in a cabin without fire options. No continental breakfast, no plates, coffee, etc. But it's a very relaxed, pleasant location with a nice trail ride option and good access to all the fun stuff in the area. We'll probably be back, just better prepared for the stay next time.

We stayed as rv’ers. Full hookups with 50 amps and decent Wi-Fi for $30/night. Six miles from Fort Davis located in a beautiful valley.

Front desk girl was very nice. We would love to see this place become Harvesthosts members, they have a great setup and can handle a lot of guest.

We stayed during spring break and it was surprisingly not busy. Very interesting place with a lot of history. Unfortunately it needs some maintenance in lots of areas. There are many half finished facility projects all over the ranch. The room was pretty much as described except the WiFi coverage didn't extend to our corner. The mattress was terrible. I'm not sure my wife and I have slept on worse. Think deep central V. The toilet ran constantly. The view on the porch was excellent and a great view of the sunrise over the bluff. We stayed because of the convenience to McDonald observatory. We did a horseback ride and I was surprised at the lack of any safety briefing before and lack of engagement of the riders. The horses are all in good shape, but the helmets prices are not. It makes me wonder how well the rest of the equipment is cared for. The views are excellent but there is so much history here that the lack of engagement it is a missed opportunity. The staff was always pleasant but there is so much more opportunity here.
