This is one of my favorite places to camp. Been coming for 3 years and I still feel like I haven't explored everything. Great place if you love history. I always stay in the Harper loop, Delta is also nice if you want electricity, its just more in the open. I've also driven around the RV sites and they look great. Also have nice cabins. Bathrooms are alright, not the best not the worst, but generally clean. I few signs could use updating, however they've done a lot of improvements this past year. They always give my dog a treat at check in. Also yes this is nature. You will see animals. I've seen racoons, cats, many frogs, deer, and some really cool lizards. Love this place and will be back again and again!

Beautiful park but the signage for the hiking trails was non existent at certain parts and definitely would have been hard to navigate without a map.

Also disappointing that one required walking on the road partially, and had no water or restroom areas outside the major buildings.

As an out of Towner, paying an entrance fee also is annoying to have to enjoy nature, and I can't imagine having to pay repeatedly more than one time.

Overall it was a great view and area, but could be improved.

Such a great place to spend a day , weekend or week with family, friends or all by yourself. Tons of really cool history and the ranger that can be found running around the park is highly knowledgeable of the park and the events that happen there. Loads of nice hiking trails and kept pretty well maintained while at the same time still reminding you that you are Way out in nature. Tons of wildlife like a zillion deer lol. We host a annual Jeep invasion here with our club Southland Jeepers and have really enjoyed every minute we've spent here. Blakeley State Park also has horse trails and what looks to be nice facilities for the horses but I don't know anything about horses and the horse trails. But still worth checking out If your into that kind of thing. Anyway 5 big fat Stars to Historic Blakeley State Park

Love the campground it was so quiet easy access to any of the Gulf Coast area. Beautiful waterfront enjoyed kayaking, hiking through the trails and learning some wonderful historical facts.
We will definitely be back.

Stayed one night at the small RV campground in July’24. It was clean, offered water and electric hookup, 50 & 30. Very quiet at night, only frogs could be heard. Great overnight stay. Only caution is some sites, like 23, are gravel and sloped up. My van couldn’t make it up even though I tried a few times only to slide back down. All else, had a great time. Will be back. This is site 22.

We enjoyed our day here exploring the trails by bike. Some trails were hard due to roots and elevation. We enjoyed seeing the battlefield, boardwalk, old trees, and old town of Blakely. Take the family lots of history to explore.

ADV Motorcycle Hammock Camper: For me, Blakeley State Park (which isn't actually a State Park) was a chance find after I arrived at another State Park in Mobile, AL - to find it full. Blakeley doesn't accept walk in campers; you must register using their website. After the very kind lady at the gate got past the fact that I was riding a motorcycle, the check-in experience was dripping with southern hospitality.

The primitive campsites were...primitive. Don't expect any amenities at (or close to) the sites, and you can expect to walk a good ways to the bath house, which was clean, warm and well maintained.

There is ample windfall firewood on the grounds, but much of it is rotten and wet. You can buy firewood at the gate, but the bundle I was given proved to burn very slowly (great for cooking, but not for that classic campfire atmosphere).

The site I was given (D17) was spacious and well maintained. There were plenty of hammock friendly trees to choose from and plenty of level ground for a large tent (if I had one). What I didn't realize at first was that the campground is located on the old battle ground itself, right between the Confederate and Union skirmish lines. The ghosts of Fort Blakeley where thankfully rather quiet while I was there.

Blakeley is conveniently close to Mobile, and just a short ride from several fantastic seafood restaurants as well as the USS Alabama maritime and aviation museum (which is well worth a visit). The access given to visitors, deep within the ship, is remarkable.

If you are planning a trip through Mobile, I highly recommend you (visit or) stay within the grounds at Blakeley State Park.

Outdoors With Shawn

Lots and lots of hiking, biking and horse trails. This park was way bigger than I expected (2000 acres). The camp grounds are well maintained and clean at a fair price. I like how the RVs are well separated from tent campers. Power & water is available for tent campers or basic primitive sites.
The fort and battlefield was pretty interesting. I like how there are QR codes to scan to read more about the areas.
The ghost town of Blakeley was pretty interesting with the Jury and Hanging tree as well as the remnants of the Courthouse.
I wish they could do more to preserve and showcase the Indian mounds by the river.
The boardwalks are well maintained and make for a nice stroll along the river.

The trails... I didn't do all of them, but the ones I did do were swarming with deer flies. Any are I didn't have sprayed with bug juice they attacked. In the spring time they are probably not as bad, so I suggest going on the trails then.

The staff at the front office was very nice and friendly. Got me checked in quickly, gave me some information packets and answered all my quiestions.
