-***Minor to moderate problems/annoyances throughout the stay added up to an unpleasant experience.***||-Clean room. |Now for not so great:||-After a 6hr drive I just wanted to relax and watch a football game. |No TV channel guide upon entering room. (Handheld nor on TV’s ‘channel guide’ itself). |Front desk offered paper copy guides, neither of which were to the TV model in my room. Paper guides have me an estimate of channel subjects (sports, etc.)|Took 30min just to find football game and begin to relax after calls/trips to front desk. ||-TV blacked out 3-4x/hr for no reason. Just turned off and back on, again and again. ||-Very few guests that night. My window looked out over an overnight tractor trailer parking lot. Grungy view when a room on the other side of the hall would have been 100% better. |Little things. ||-Keurig coffee maker was broken, unusable, beyond repair. Front desk requested I bring it down. |Later a hotel staff knocked on my door with a new one. Why not just exchange it instead of having me make the trip down? Just wanted a cup of coffee, turned into an ordeal. ||-Restaurant was a Tavern located next door. Hotel has an indoor walkway but it was closed for construction. |Not expecting the Ritz but it being January, having to bundle back up in winter clothes to grab a pizza was small but additional inconvenience considering the price of the room. ||-Refrigerator mildly cool. Unable to save leftovers. Small ice cream cookie I purchased was melting when I got it after 1hr. ||-“Ice/Vending” on each floor was only ice. Snacks/beverages available at front desk, however, staff only sometimes around to help. ||- Heater. Set temp to comfortable level. Heating unit would warm the room. Then the A/C would power on until room was cold, then return to heating. |This cycle was continuous throughout the night. Cold, warm, cold, warm. Noisy. ||- Construction. 4th & 5th floors were under complete construction. I awoke at 8-9am to saws, hammers, etc. ||-Elevator. At check out only one of two elevators worked. The functioning one was full of a 7ft pallet of construction materials. Couldn’t squeeze into the elevator with my bags so back down the hall to use the stairs w/ all my luggage in tow. ||- ***I think that’s it. From beginning to end it was one thing after another.***||Like I said, clean room, didn’t feel unsafe at least, but not worth half the price.

Bianca and Adam were great. I had an issue with parking my truck across at the fuel stop. Once I talked to them both, and explained everything, they took it upon themselves to make sure the security guard and the owner of the security company for the parking lot knew that I was a guest there. Great place to stay with great hospitality!!!!

4 stars only because they’re undergoing renovations at the moment.

Alexis at the lobby restaurant is always friendly and chipper. I’ve stayed at a lot of Garden Inns for work and this one has some of the best quality food among them. Chef is doing god’s work back there.

Disappointing Stay – Would Not Recommend

We stayed for two nights at the Hilton Garden Inn in Springfield, MA. We had several disappointing experiences:

1. No Functioning Wi-Fi (one evening), and no option for premium Wi-Fi access:
The most significant issue we faced was the complete lack of functioning Wi-Fi throughout the entire hotel on the second day we stayed here. As someone who was there for work, this was incredibly limiting. There is also no option for purchasing premium Wi-Fi access, if that is of interest.

2. Unhelpful Service:
The staff were not as accommodating as we had hoped:
- First Issue: Upon arrival, one of the companies had already reserved and paid for the room. Upon check-in, I was told that my credit card would be charged since the front desk had not confirmed with the company whether they could charge them directly. This felt like something the hotel should have managed in advance. They also did not follow up with this matter during our stay. After leaving, I informed the company about the issue and they were very helpful and resolved it, but the lack of communication from the hotel was disappointing.
- Second Issue: On the first evening of arrival, we asked about the premium Wi-Fi access, as we were willing to pay for it to get some work done. The receptionist was dismissive about why the service wasn’t available on any of our devices (two different laptops and two different cell phones). We even asked for the number so that we could call the IT service desk directly, but she insisted it wouldn’t help and didn’t offer to find the number for us.

3. Room Condition:
The room itself was clean, which was a positive aspect, but the heating/AC unit was outdated. Every time the heater turned on, it would blow cold air for a while before eventually releasing hot air. This happened repeatedly, including overnight, and made it difficult to get comfortable. We did require service with the bathroom and that was addressed quickly, which we appreciated.

4. Noise from Renovations:
The hotel was undergoing renovations during my stay, which led to constant construction noise. So, if you are sensitive to noise, this again would be something to be mindful of.

Overall, we were disappointed with our stay.

We were truly not impressed with this hotel. We picked it because it was centrally located and close to a lot of places we wanted to visit.

Having a restaurant attached we thought would be great. It was not. We were on the fourth floor closer to the restaurant. The restaurant had a band that night and they didn't finish until after 9. We could hear them inside our room, so much so we left. Even after the band stopped, we could still hear all of the traffic and noise outside.

The hotel was a bit rundown, and the upkeep wasn't where it should be. Online, it shows to offer a free breakfast. Once there, we found out it was a $16 buffet. Not something we were willing to pay.

Not someplace we would ever return to.

This hotel is in the heart of Springfield, so it has a bittersweet component to it. It sits right next door 2A pizzerina Uno and the basketball hall of fame, and within walking distance of MGM. However, it sits next to 2 major roads, including one highway and again, right in the heart of the city. So, as far as calm and relaxing, that might not be the case. However, their customer service is amazing. The hotel is also under a major renovation. They appear to be doing each floor, one at a time. They are basically attached to Pizzeria. Uno.

Positive: It was close to the interstate Negative: I could feel the springs from the bed poking my hips and I had a very restless sleep. There must?ve been a railway track nearby because we heard trains throughout the night. The top blanket was very thin, so we had to turn the heat up to stay warm.
