So I'm very torn. I use to come here all the time and have always loved it here. But it hasn't been taken care of and it's completely overgrown. Sometimes the trail would just disappear on me causing me to get turned around and lost if you try push through. Anyways here is a pretty picture I got from the start before everything went to chaos.

It was quite beautiful. Not an easy hiking trail, but nothing my 7 year old couldn't handle. Lots of different paths to choose. My dogs and family had a lot of fun and got a ton of exercise. Tired and happy.

Did some hiking here today to see some fall colors and the trails are in ROUGH shape, felt like there’s been no maintenance or trail clearing in many weeks. Trees down on the trails, trails overgrown.

Please fix the parking situation, incredibly dangerous with kids/dogs.

Overall highly disappointing given the natural beauty and elevation changes in this area. Has so much potential.

Loved it! Once you get past fearing for your life parking on the main road and almost getting pancaked by the gravel trucks headed to/fro the quarry it's fantastic! Super quiet, so many trails to choose from, LOTS of steep inclines/declines. Wear grippy shoes. I felt like Tommy boy in Black Sheep 'Be strong little roots!' as I held on to trees so I wouldn't go flying down over my huskies onto the ground. There is a gravel trail but we took the homemade ones for more adventure. Way fun. I love lake county forest preserves but I'm wondering why they can't borrow a little gravel from the quarry next door to make the empty space at the entrance into parking spaces. For safety. I don't care about convenience. Just be careful with dogs, keep them on leash so they don't get squished by a truck.

I can't believe I have to explain this, but the small parking lot is a GOOD THING, people! It keeps the crowds down!! That's the REASON this park is SO quiet, private, beautiful, and has that "deep woods" feeling. Please DO NOT EVER expand the parking lot, keep Gander uncrowded and undisturbed!! πŸ’š

Nice trail! Some are wide , some are narrow. Can definitely get momentarily lost! Some good elevation once in a while too. I'll be back for sure.

It's ok. High views, plain, no water/lake. Not much parking at all. Parking pretty close to the street cars doing 55-75 mph

Parking is a little awkward but dealable. Views are so beautiful. Quite a few different paths to take, so plenty to see. Steep in some areas but worth it!
