I haven't been here in almost 15 years and I was so pleasantly surprised.
They have done an amazing job with the exhibits and grounds. The baby elephants were out and were very playful. The kids did the giraffe feed and stingray feeding (you get 2 pieces of raw fish for $6 for the stingrays and two leaves of lettuce for the giraffe for $6). IMO not worth it but if you have kids ...
Anyway it was a beautiful morning and we spent about 3 hours here.
Oh I recommend the "pink flamingo" beverage!

This zoo is super cute and has a lot of different areas. It took my family about 3 hours to explore the whole zoo. We are from out of the area so it cost us a little extra but it was a good deal. We upgraded to be able to do the giraffe feeding and the sting ray touch tank. Feeding the stingrays was an extra $3 charge but I enjoyed it as the sting rays were super friendly. The giraffe feeding was included and super hands on. There were some food options but we didn’t stop at any of them. Please make sure to pay for parking just outside the zoo. It’s $5 for the whole day. Can’t wait to be in the area to visit again.

Beautiful zoo, very clean, every member of the staff we encountered were SO friendly! Animals are well taken care of. We spent about 5 hours in the zoo, taking our time at each exhibit. Watch out for the goats.. they'll eat your map! LOL, I can't wait to go back again!

Fresno Chaffee Zoo Illuminature was so much fun. I came to this exhibit a few years back and it was nice, but they have really expanded it. The displays have multiplied, they are huge and very well-done. Most pathways throughout the zoo are lit up, and are just beautiful! Everything was just magical.

The wait time to enter was very short, which was nice. Unfortunately, not all the animals were out. The alligator area was just an empty space with water and small fish, and we couldn’t see the cheetahs or tigers. The sea lion section was also closed. I really wish there had been more animals to see. However, my girls did enjoy the waterfall and the dinosaur bone digging area.

Definitely our family go to place. Fresno so is very welcome and the animals are well taken care of.
I'd definitely recommend the tickets in advance. You can even get them same day online.
Parking has a fee. So get your license # so you can pay. I'd advise to text the # on the side of the parking meter so you don't stand in line.
Food is decent price but I always grab a snack for the little ones.
So what are you waiting for ! Go have a nice walk at the Zoo!

This is my first time at the zoo for Illuminature and it was really nice, lots of things to see and really nice displays. Anyone at any age can enjoy it.

The reason I’m rating this a four and not a five is because of the heat. I know it isn’t the zoo’s fault but oh my it is so freakin hot. Other than that the zoo is very nice and entertaining. The water area for the kids is nice too. Refreshing! The aquarium is very pretty too. Tiger was dead!!!!! The stench was bad. Goodbye
