My friends and I recently stayed at Cinnabar House. The place was the perfect location for our hiking and biking adventures. Very clean, and close to everything. The beds were quite comfortable, we had no trouble sleeping after long days of exercise and fun. Make sure you arrive with some daylight on the first night, it was a little challenging to find in the dark. The outdoor grill could use an upgrade.

My recent stay in Terlingua at Fossil Knob Ridge - Chisos House was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we felt transported to a tranquil oasis where breathtaking views and serene surroundings set the tone for a perfect getaway.

The accommodations were incredibly comfortable and thoughtfully designed, offering everything we needed for a seamless stay. From a well-equipped kitchen to cozy seating areas, it was clear that every detail had been considered to make guests feel at home. Whether we were preparing a quick breakfast or curling up with a book, I never found myself wanting for anything.

If you need to pick up items or groceries during your stay, there are several small stores in the area that offer basic necessities. These shops were convenient and had just enough to ensure I never felt unprepared or inconvenienced.

What truly made this stay unforgettable, however, was the natural beauty that surrounded the property. Waking up to a stunning sunrise painting the desert landscape in hues of pink and gold was an experience I’ll never forget. Each morning felt like a fresh start, a reminder of the peace and rejuvenation the area offers.

Evenings were equally magical. Watching the sun set and the sky transform into a canvas of vibrant colors was the perfect way to wind down after a day of relaxation. The quietness of the desert, paired with these awe-inspiring views, provided the perfect backdrop to reflect, reset, and refresh.

If you're looking for a true escape, this is the place to be. Fossil Knob Ridge offers an authentic experience of nature's beauty, and the accommodations make it even more special. I left feeling completely renewed and can’t wait to return!

Our stay in the Chisos House was excellent. The house was clean and well setup. AC was cold. The highlight for us was the patio. Great views and was so relaxing. We had the entire property to ourselves but even if other guests were on site you may not know it. It was a easy drive to Big Bend. We cooked steaks on the grill and ate at the outside table. It was our first visit to Fossil Knob and BBNP and we plan on returning to both.

We had an amazing 5 night stay at the 248 House at Fossil Knob at the end of September. We watched every sunset and every sunrise and I even got up two nights at 5 am and watched the orange full moon set. Just about every night we watched lightening storms slowly march through the sky. The views are spectacular.
During the days we went hiking in Big Bend and we took one day off and just hung out and walked around Terlingua Ghost town where we sat on a porch and listened to an impromptu cowboy guitar jam session. ( I walked into town from the house.) Another night we cooked one meal and ate outside and watched desert mice, quail and listened to the absolute silence of the desert. It is indeed a very special place and I hope to go back soon.

Fossil Knob Ridge is an amazing getaway in the Terlingua area. This is our second time to stay, if that tells you anything! The container is comfortable, beautifully decorated, and the views are spectacular from both the inside and outside areas. Incredible sunrises, sunsets, and stargazing. Very quiet and peaceful, unlike many of the accommodations in the area which are closer to the highway. The only caution is that you'll need something with just a little clearance to get up the road to the container. Highly recommended!!!

We stayed at Rainbow House for three nights in December. Our friends stayed at Mariscal House. Both were wonderful; clean, well appointed, comfortable, stocked with all the amenities you’d need. The location is great, right up the hill from all the restaurants in Terlingua Ghost Town. Highly recommend this place!

Great place to stay near Big Bend National Park. We stayed in the 248 House, and it was perfectly adequate for our family of four. We grilled outdoors, made use of the small but well-equipped kitchen and ate in Terlingua one night. The entrance road is quite rocky but it is possible for a sedan to make it. Once it is dark, the view of the stars is excellent. If you are looking for solitude and privacy, this place will be perfect. The owners provided excellent instructions for arrival, and were quick to make sure we had arrived and had everything we needed. Highly recommend.

We had the most wonderful time at Fossil Knob Ridge! This was our first trip out to Big Bend and we hit the jackpot with this Airbnb. To start, the location is ideal. Close to the restaurants and stores, but tucked away on a piece of land that is secluded. We had the best night sleep as there was literally ZERO noise and total darkness. The views of the stars were perfect!

Be sure to set your alarm early and see the sunrise! You can open the blinds of your bedroom window and see the entire view right from your bed. The sunrise is stunning and you can the entire outline of the Chisos Mountains.

The amenities were great and we had everything we needed. The shower was also perfect and was great to use after a long day of hiking.

To make the stay even more perfect - Daryl provided a very detailed packet of directions and instructions. He also provided recommendations for those looking to eat/shop in the are.

I HIGHLY recommend this location and will only stay here when visiting Big Bend in the future.
