Beautiful and has a walking trail of 1 mile or a shorter one for a 5 year old that circled back to paved path. Easy to walk and several bridges for photo ops. Also lots of memory benches to rest along the way. Great for families and friends. Very serene with birds and nature.

We absolutely loved coming here on our camping trip. Our favorite parts were the old home, the Veterans Memorial, and a walk in the woods. Staff were super friendly and offered suggestions.

We went for our first visit, for the homeschool class! We're 1.5 hours away, but it's well worth the drive! My 8yo enjoyed her time, learned some fun stuff, and we got to take in the beautiful garden. There's fun play areas and lots of beautiful places to walk and picinic. Very excited to have food this place!

My husband and I had the pleasure of touring the East Texas Arboretum in Athens, Texas, yesterday. We toured with the new Director, Jennifer, and had a wonderful time learning about the accomplishments and the needs of the Arboretum.
The East Texas theatrical company was out there, and we got to have our picture taken with Mary Poppins and Burt on the “come fly a kite” day! That was an extra we didn’t see coming, lol.
We even got to take our dog and they have a freshwater dog dish ready for the four-legged friends who come visit.
If you live in the Athens area, you really should stop by and better yet buy a membership for two people. It’s only $50 a year and it’s reciprocal with the huge Arboretum in Dallas which cost lots of money to just buy a ticket, no less a yearly membership!
All around this is a win-win place to soak up nature, take a 2 mile or shorter hike, and give back to the community there, if and when you buy a ticket or a membership.

Very enjoyable experience here. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The nature trail is well maintained and easy. It was quite and scenic. They offer a step back in time with historical buildings on site not just botany and a nature trail.
Worth the drive - entey fee is minimal.
