A very challenging hike by any measure. Up and down, rocky and rooty in places We did it without wet water crossings (rock-hopping), a rarity. Multiple water crossings would not have been a welcome additional challenge, but they are required most of the year. All that said, if you like a backpacking challenge and are in reasonably good shape, this hike is incredibly rewarding.

Eagle Rock Loops is an amazing and epic hiking area. The loop is around 27 miles and is adventure filled! It has so many beautiful views of flowing streams, greenery, and overlooks. The hiking is moderately strenuous and may require some training before taking it on. One section consists of 5 mountains, the most difficult being Brush Heep Mountain. Some river crossing may also be dangerous. Hiking with a group and bringing water shoes is highly recommended. My group and I were able to hike this loop in 2 days. 6 miles one day, 21 miles the next day. Definitely worth the drive (from Tulsa, OK) and a must visit if looking for backpacking areas in Arkansas!

For beauty, this is basically a five star hike. The river and creeks are lovely, and the fireflies in warmer months add a fairytale element to evenings. However, you will encounter lots of random auto traffic and bits if civilization that take you out of your mental backcountry. Just be ready for busy trailheads every 7-8 miles with lots of people you wouldn't expect on a trek. That aside, it's worth a hike.

Everything about this area is amazing. It's a wonderful hike, beautiful scenery (forest, rivers), including a handful of challenging climbs. MANY water crossings. It can get a little annoying to have to change your shoes so often. We got soaking wet. There are lots of great places to camp for the night along the way.

The loop is around 27 miles. My friends and I decided just to do 4 miles in and 4 miles out as my husband has a heart condition and cannot do the whole loop. We were able to get fresh water the whole time and it’s tastes great (filtered).

Beautiful hiking area to explore! Window Rock views are beautiful. This hike has steep hills, rocky terrain, and beautiful mountain views. This is part of the Eagle Rock Loop, hiking trail. At Window Rock, inside the cave you can enjoy sweeping valley views, mountain views and the Little Missouri River.

Such a gorgeous backpacking trail!! I’ve been 3 diffrent times over the past 2 years, and i don’t think I’ll ever get bored of it.
Only con is that finding a place to start is somewhat difficult, especially at night, but that just comes with the territory I guess haha.
AllTrails is extremely helpful !!

Was here last year. Great place to go if you're a novice backpacker looking for a challenge. Water flowing everywhere was a large part of the beauty and struggle. The fact that it's a loop is also great if you're going solo. Do a lot of reading and prep if you decide to do the whole thing!
