The catfish, Mac & cheese, fried green tomatoes, and johnny cakes were delicious. The collard greens were too sweet for my liking. My biggest complaint is that they will nickel and dime you at this place with an automatic 18% gratuity and they charge extra for sauces that would typically come free with a meal (i.e. extra $ for 1 tartar sauce with a shrimp meal) and the menu prices are lower than what is actually charged at the register.

Food and drinks are great. Waitress are very helpful in helping you make a decision on your meal. I basically have tried everything from the fried chicken to fried catfish and the rest isn’t food on menu. I haven’t been disappointed about my food or drinks. Love this place.

I highly recommend this restaurant got some absolutely delicious food, the baked macaroni and cheese is the best hands down. I love everything they have to be honest, you can’t go wrong with whatever you choose. Karen and Thor are my all time favorites. We are frequent customers and travel three hours to come and dine. We have been eating at Dixie Kitchen for 18 years from the old location to the new location. Overall great experience‼️💯

We've been here before with way better service and food. It just wasn't there on this day. Waitress was ok but definitely did not deserve a tip. Won't be back for awhile. Hope their cooks actually learn how to cook. Food really mediocre. And somebody granny need to be in the kitchen with them johnny cakes horrible

I guess my previous review was deleted… however I will post again. I used to come to Dixie Kitchen every Sunday after church. I have been going there for the past 5 years. Never had an issue. However one particular Sunday… I went and I had called in my order ahead of time as I always do. I was told my order would be ready in 20 minutes. However when I got there I waited and waited. I saw multiple people who had ordered via phone get their orders. I then saw people come in and place an order and get their food before mine. I then got up and asked what the hold up was. The Caucasian lady who usually works the register was very rude and she told me “Have a seat your order is not ready yet.” I then explained to her that I think something is wrong because I’ve been sitting here for almost an hour. She rolled her eyes and said “Please have a seat”. Finally my order was ready. I was livid. I chose not to support there anymore but decided to give it another chance a couple of months later. When I came in there the same Caucasian woman was at the register she calls my name with an attitude, looks at me, rolls her eyes, and rudely says “I read your review. You know what you wrote was not true…you really hurt my feelings you know we have been good to you” I replied to her stating “Well it is no reason my order should not have been ready and I had to wait for 1 hour that is unacceptable. It seems my order was forgotten and wasn’t put in.” She replied “Well that happens however you did not have to leave your review.” She then rolled her eyes and said “Have a good holiday” she said this in front of other customers. I was very offended. As a customer the customer is ALWAYS right and it is unprofessional to say things of that nature in front of people! What I should’ve done is went live on Facebook and showed people her unprofessional behavior. The purpose of reviews is to REVIEW YOUR SERVICE!!!! If you are foul… I WILL let people know! I will never support this establishment again unless she is not there. She is very unprofessional and rude. I will never come there again and I also have been telling people not to support that business either!

I would to give a BIG ups to Karen the Manger and our Server Thor. The service was phenomenal and the food was perfect. Our family attended here after the funeral of our uncle and decided to dine there. Everything about our experience was amazing and made us feel so welcome. I would definitely be back for another event.

It was a party of 30 and our food was served in a timely manner not to mention Everything we order was hot and fresh. I would definitely recommend Dixie Kitchen. Again, Thank you Karen your professionalism and gratitude you showed to my family was so heartfelt ❤️ and very much appreciated. With great leadership shows in your staff. Great job Thor! 👏

The place has a nice setup...soft Creole-style music playing in the background. I started with fried green tomatoes. These here were solid, probably some of the best fried green tomatoes I've had from a restaurant. They came out hot and fresh...seasoned perfectly. I use the hot cakes as bread to make a sandwich with a few generous dabs of hot sauce too...chef kiss. 9.5. Next I went with the gumbo and this was another winner hands down. Again came out hot and packed with flavor. The gumbo came with rice and there was no bad bite with this here. 9.2. Lastly, I got the catfish strips which are a nice-sized serving too 8.8. The customer service was decent, nothing crazy here.

Overall yeah they add 18% gratuity and a fee for credit cards smh. Minus that I left happy my boi....9.1

My family and I drove down from Milwaukee yesterday to commemorate the 1 year anniversary of my cousin's passing in a tragic car accident that took place in Calumet City. Our original dining plans fell through so while trying to figure out another option, this place was recommended. When we arrived, they wasted no time accommodating our party of 19 with no reservation or prior notice. The service was fast and friendly. It didn't take too long to receive our orders and the food was great. We appreciate the manager and wait staff for making us feel so welcome. ❤️
