Beautiful hike! This is a very impressive Canyon and I love that you are immersed in the beauty of it almost as soon as you start the hike as it's really short to get to the cool stuff. And then you can decide to hike as far as you want just keep in mind you're going to probably have to turn around and go back the same way unless you know something more than me haha.

We took our little dog and kids and hiked in about a half mile or so I guess. It's really impressive in that first section of the canyon but apparently you can hike about 5 to 6 miles and hit the Rio Grande which I can see on the satellite it looks awesome if you're up for it but bring lots of supplies ha.

If you decide to go in the summer like we did go in the morning of course it was nice but started to get a bit warm at the end. So yes very cool hike in the Santa Fe area!! We'll be back!

Love Diablo Canyon! Make sure you wear high top hiking boots and some pants that cover your boots. This keeps the sand out of your shoes. The first time I hiked Diablo Canyon down to the Rio Grande and back, I ended up with sand burn between my toes because I wore the wrong shoes. This is a beautiful 5 mile hike in soft, sandy soil. The Canyon is just gorgeous! And then you see the Rio Grande and it is so refreshing and beautiful!

The beginning and the end of the trail were very nice. The beginning was Diablo Canyon and the end was where you could walk into the Rio Grande River. The rest was sort of boring. And then we get to the sand. The whole trail (about 6 miles round trip) was loose, deep sand, making it so much more strenuous then it should have. Other than the sand, it was a beautiful trail

This is a beautiful canyon! We walked in the riverbed. Mostly dry but there were some muddy areas and sinking sandy areas. It was very peaceful and didn't see another person for an hour and a half of hiking. Would definitely do this one again.

This is a trailhead, there are more hikes from here that are stunning. This isnt just the end of the popular Diablo Canyon Trail. Lots to see and explore around. This is also the put in to continue down the Rio Grande to make it down to Cochiti reservoir. Worth checking out to avoid all of the crowds. Watch for weather, this trailhead can flash, car parking is an important place. You could not get out or have your car taken to the river if you dont watch out

Fantastic place! Easy to get there but you have to look for Old Buckman road that end up at the trailhead. The walls from both sides are impressive.

It beautiful and once it opens back up from the fire danger it will be even better. Currently only access is on BLM land. Please respect the fire warnings and closures!

Great hike down to the Rio Grande. Trail is wide, gentle and easy to follow. Very scenic walking through columnar basalt cliffs. In the summer you will need to bring ample water, since there's little shade.
