The service was absolutely terrible. We waited over 45 minutes to get our food and about that long for the check. The food was okay however there was no salt, pepper, etc. on the table. We couldn’t get the waiters attention for more drinks, etc. The woman who runs the museum was very rude. She didn’t answer one of our questions in a nice manner and she gave us a look of disgust when we didn’t pay the suggested donation. We had less than 10 minutes to get through the museum a donation wasn’t warranted.

Cruise to the Island was wonderful, once there we had a quick tour which was over by 12 so we were told we could go over to the Inn for lunch. We told quite rudely that our food service was at 12:45. So we waited 45 minutes to sit for lunch, only to not receive our food until 1:30 at which time, we declined the food because our boat left at 1:45. So much for a leisurely lunch. Super disappointed, for a private island restaurant I would have expected more.

We were there on two evenings, the first visit was a rather unpleasant experience the second was better.|The first evening we ordered prime ribs for the gents and fish for the ladies. The side salads came earlier but without dressing, when the dressings finally arrived we were nearly finished with the salads. The prime ribs were served on a cold metal plate, as a result they were already lukewarm to cold when we started eating. We returned them for re-heating and serving on a warm porcelain plate - the kitchen and the waitress were finally able to handle that - expensive - food properly. Spicing was very good and it was cooked exactly to order. The grouper was way too salty, the snapper was good. Bread was also good, warm and crispy. Waitress was clearly overwhelmed.|The second day we didn't want to challenge the chef too much and ordered hamburgers for the guys - it turned out that was the proper professional level for the chef, everything was perfect! Even the French fries were hot! Our ladies had the seared tuna and the bistro salad - was also good. And that waitress knew her job.|So please don't overwhelm the staff with complicated expensive food orders, it apparently has a meaning that that restaurant is called an "Inn"!

After a day on the water with Captiva Cruises, we stopped on the island to have lunch and tour the museum. We decided to have lunch at the Collier Inn. What a wonderfully historic place. You walk in and you are taken back to the early 1900's. We were seated in the main dining room which was wonderfully decorated. Our server, Joey, was awesome. He was able to get an answer to all of our vegetarian and vegan questions. While there was only a salad and black beans and rice on the menu for us, the chef was able to create a stir fry dish...which was very tasty. All of the meals we had were very tasty and the atmosphere wonderful. ||||The only negative was that service was a little slow which did not allow us much time at the museum; however, Joey was great and the food marvelous, so I will not complain.

The restaurant at the Collier Inn is located in a beautiful, southern mansion style building that was apparently once owned by the Collier family of Collier's magazine. The only way you get to eat there is to be resident on this exclusive island, be a guest of a resident, or come on a tour boat from nearby Captiva Island. We did the latter, and the boat ride over was great. Once on Useppa, they do not let you forget that you are there by gracious permission. You are escorted by a guide to the Inn, and some are seated for lunch while others are taken to the museum; you then change places. You are instructed as to what path to walk on back to the dock after lunch/museum. I guess it's obvious I found this unappealing (it was not explained to us before we set out, just upon arrival), and that may bias my opinion of the restaurant itself.||Very pretty, well-appointed dining room. Attentive but not overly warm or welcoming staff. Very pricey. I think I paid for $15 for a grouper sandwich that was as good as, but no better than, a grouper sandwich I had at a café on Captiva, for under $10, My wife and her mother similarly had meals that were good, but probably didn't warrant the price tag.

Even on a rainy day this is a beautiful and quiet island. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I really enjoyed the historical architecture of the buildings and the museum was interesting. Waiting on my lunch at the Collier Inn, I hear its delicious! I had to give it 4 stars because it's only accessible by boat and you have to be a member or take a day cruise to come out to the island. It is NOT open to the public.

The Inn is charming and the setting is lovely. Our waiter was very nice and explained the daily specials to us. II selected one of them. The meal was well presented. Unfortunately the meat, which was covered by sauce, was VERY fatty. I should have mentioned it to the waiter, but I didn’t want to make a fuss. My hisband’s meal was very good.

I was in a group of 27 so we were offered a very limited menu. Burger, fish sandwich, fish taco and salad. Soup appetizer and key lime pie. Service was great. Food was ok. The ambiance was terrific and we decided that next time we go to Useppa Is. we'll take a picnic basket and enjoy the fantastic landscape and beach. A full menu was offered to members so my experience is to limited so take with a grain of salt.
