The Cherokee Alpine Trail is one of the most refreshing hikes I’ve experienced in Alabama. The trail winds through a beautiful mix of jungle-like woods and lakeshore views, offering a peaceful and scenic atmosphere throughout. Hearing birds chirping as you walk adds to the calming vibe, making it a great escape into nature.

The trail is well-marked with clear directions, so it’s easy to follow. There’s also a free parking lot nearby, which makes the trip even more convenient. We packed some snacks and enjoyed them at the end of the hike—a perfect way to relax and take in the surroundings.

Excellent views of Lake Martin. Up and down trails. Pine needles cover most of the trail and could be slippery if wet. We went on a Monday morning and we were the only people on the trail. Very quiet place. Just a couple of turtles on the logs.

Very good trail, some uphills and some down but maintained fairly well. Beautiful areas as well walked the edge of the lake. Great trail to burn some Cal’s.

It's a good spot to host a BBQ, birthday or any picnic. Trails are easy comparative and the view of the lake is amazing. You can go to take a good swim on a summer morning or camp there along the lake side. Good trail of you're planning to bring your dog along as there are hardly any animals around.

This is one of the most perfect places to propose to your partner, if that's what you're planning to do here. The view from the overlook is excellent and the plaques have great information on them. The trail is perfectly natural and almost 100% trash-free. The volunteers that maintain this natural beauty are absolutely wonderful. However, try to avoid the massive banana spiders all over the further parts of the trails! Other than those monsters, this place is a 10/10!

Amazing trail. Liked the hiking view. Nice location. We went on the Chimney trail. The trail goes by the lakeside so it is really nice and there is a corner from where you can get into water to add more fun or relaxation to the hike.

Love the view and the trails are clean, spacious and easy to walk. We just wish their were grills so we could come grill and pick nic.

Beautiful trail and tons of fun hiking it with the family. Lots of scenic areas. It can get a little steep in some areas, but there are various trails in the area so you can find some that are perfect for you. I'd highly recommend this trail and area.
