Avoid Charter Van Lines and Eden Moving Services at All Costs!

If you’re considering using Charter Van Lines, let me warn you: this company is a broker. They subcontract your move to a transporter—in my case, Eden Moving Services—and the results were a disaster.

My move from Colorado to Texas was handled with zero care or professionalism. My furniture was crammed into the truck without any organization, and my belongings were treated with blatant disregard. Boxes clearly labeled fragile were damaged, and items I paid them to pack were also broken. The truck was an absolute mess, and it was clear they had no concern for properly protecting anyone’s belongings.

To make matters worse, many of the items in the truck weren’t even mine, but the careless way everything was packed left my neighborhood looking like a trash heap. Eden Moving Services dumped bags and boxes onto my lawn, creating a scene that was embarrassing and frustrating.

The worst part? They offered me a measly $36 in compensation for the damage because I didn’t purchase additional insurance. However, if they had simply handled my belongings with care, the damage wouldn’t have happened in the first place—especially not to the fragile items I carefully labeled.

Oh, and let’s not forget the cost. My original estimate was $1,800, but by the time the move was done, the price had jumped to $3,600!

If you absolutely must use Charter Van Lines, make sure you purchase extra insurance. Better yet, avoid them and Eden Moving Services altogether. Here’s the proof of how my belongings were treated—a complete mess and total lack of respect.

Save yourself the stress, damage, and hidden costs. Don’t use these companies!

I hired this company to do a move cross-country from Arizona to Michigan Rian the sales rep said they were the best A+ rated with the Better Business Bureau. All lies lies. I decided to use this company because of their high rating first I was quoted one price and said it may change some when the movers got here, the movers said it was gonna be $195 more. We agreed to it at 1 AM in the morning after the truck was loaded. They told me your final price it was $1700 higher than what I was quoted and I was told if I do not pay that , they will unload the truck in my driveway and Leave. I was forced to pay this higher amount. This was on July 6. They said they would be to Michigan at my house no later than July 12. I was getting no response from them on what was going on and on July 17 the driver called me and said will be there on Friday the 19th When they showed up, they forced me to pay them before they would unload the truck and then kept saying all your stuff is insured as they were bringing all my stuff in busted and broken. All they kept saying is I’m sorry we have insurance. The biggest issue is most stuff, I’ve been collecting for years and they did not take care of stuff. They treat it like it was garbage. All my furniture was ripped up busted it was horrible I wish Nobody Has to experience what I experience with this company they lied to me and treated my stuff like it was trash and then after they brought all my stuff and busted and broken, they were like you need to tip us. This has to be one of the worst companies I’ve ever dealt with Run from this company it’s all lies bait and switch. Update it has been 5 months and still no response from this company or their insurance. This seems to be a pattern for them, if you are moving I highly recommend you running from this company.

They arrived early and organized, and carefully packed each department's items separately. Their guidance and efficiency helped us remain operational during the move, and they even set up our new workspace faster than anticipated. The movers secured every corner with straps, double-checking it wouldn’t shift during transport. My antique bookshelf was moved in a good way; they ensured not a single scratch appeared on the polished wood. Communication was constant, with the crew updating me on the expected arrival time. Unloading was efficient, and they placed each box in the exact room I requested. Literally the best!

This company is a total scam shop. Just a handful of losers pretending to be a big company. Regular wolf of wall street operation. They are liars and misrepresent themselves at every turn. Expect nothing but hassle and lies dealing with these clowns. I wish I had read their reviews BEFORE making the mistake of dealing with them. Do your homework and READ REVIEWS. Deal with an actual moving company. Charter is just a broker who takes your money and adds a markup to the real cost of dealing directly with a real moving company who actually has trucks and movers. They completely lied to get me to sign with them and then pulled a bait and switch you when it came to the move and the price. Luckily federal law protects people like me in this situation and I’m able to get away from them and fully refunded. That doesn’t fix the total disaster to scheduling that they created by trying to screw me at the last minute for almost a 50% price increase just a day before picking up with ZERO changes on my end whatsoever. Lesson learned. Do your own research and decide for yourself, you will regret it if you don’t!

Charter Van Lines totally lived up to their name. They were super careful with everything from start to finish. They took their time to look at each item and came up with a good plan for loading and unloading. I was really impressed by how gentle they were with fragile things, using packing tricks to keep them safe. Even how they stacked the boxes in the truck was really organized, so nothing moved around too much. I felt really confident that my stuff was in good hands, and the move went really smoothly.
