Cedar Ridge is beautiful. We have hiked in different places arpund Houston, Austin, and Dallas, and this place is a great experience. From .5 miles to several miles hikes can be done here. The paths are clean and well maintained. It is family friendly and there is always people hiking around. The think we like the most is that even some short trails adds some type of challenge with slopes, stairs, roots to walk over. Overall it is a great place. If you have never been at Cedar Ridge and want to have a nice hike, that is not far from the city and easy to enjoy, this is it. And if you enjoy explore new places when you visit Dallas as an outsider, we recommend you give it a try. It is really enjoyable...and it's free. They only suggest a donation, which you can do with a QR code by the parking lot.

Wow! Is all I can say. For my first time here, I will be returning for sure. Great for date or like we did a colleagues outing. Well over 5 miles of trails. SO MANY STAIRS AND STEPS! 😍🤩 If you can't handle inclines this isn't for you. Trails can get a bit narrow too, so if you have aggressive dogs PLEASE be mindful that there are humans with their animals in close proximity. Highly recommend, if you like hiking and roughing it you'll love this too. Even spotted an all WHITE squirrel. I think albino.

First time at what has been a long popular trail. If you're reading this and haven't been yet prepare for the up and down of a lot of steps. The trail I went on had quite a bit of elevation. More than most trails I've been on in DFW area. Good nature views, but fairly standard IMHO. Not the most scenic views, but it was well kept and clean.

Cedar Ridge Preserve is an absolute gem and a must-visit for nature lovers! The moment you step onto the trails, you’re immersed in a serene and breathtaking environment that feels like an escape from the city. The trails are well-maintained and offer a variety of options for all skill levels, from easy strolls to more challenging hikes.

The views are stunning—lush greenery, wildflowers, and even the occasional wildlife sighting make every visit special. The lookout points, especially the ones overlooking the rolling hills, are truly picture-perfect. I also appreciate how the preserve prioritizes conservation and sustainability, creating a space that’s not only beautiful but also respectful of the environment.

Whether you’re looking for a peaceful walk, a good workout, or a spot to connect with nature, Cedar Ridge Preserve delivers every time. It’s a hidden treasure that’s well worth a visit. Five stars all the way

Definitely it’s a must try for outdoor enthusiasts. From outside it does not seem that there are hiking trails but actually this park has 16 different hiking trails.

I have been here multiple times but never experienced anything dangerous but just excited to see the sign. Good place to spend some time.

It’s a great place to go out trekking with your friends. You can find peace and calms your nerves down as the path lies amidst the forest and trees. You can take pets and kids too. There are couple of routes depending on how much you can walk/run. Walking id advisable as it is quite sloppy and rocky. Beware of the thorns.
There are couple of camping grounds too to camp around in the area with a lake view.
The scenic views would be impressive when the grass turns greener.

Tip: Wear caps and sunglasses.

When someone asks what can you do in Texas / Dallas, take them here for a trek. 😉

Keep in mind I’m from Colorado, so I didn’t think these trails were very difficult. That being said, it was really nice. The trails were well kept and maintained. The views were good, even for a chilly January day. There are many trails to choose from, so you can make it as long or as short as you’d like.

Best pedestrian/hiking trail in DFW. No cyclists to interrupt your hike. Choose Bluebonnet or mulberry for shorter/easier hikes. Longer loops available or create your own route with map provided at trail head. Wildflowers are abundant in the spring, great place to be in nature. Avoid large crowds on weekends by going during weekday. Early mornings best time to go. Keep eye out for copperheads in spring. They want to avoid you just as much as you them but occasionally you'll see them just off the trail. Don't make sudden movements and you'll be fine. Finally, don't leave your trash, pack out what you brought in. It's up to every individual to protect our wild spaces and what little natural space is preserved for our enrichment.
