Had a great time at CHSP this past Monday on our drive home from Dallas. The weather was perfect and the lake was still warm. We didn’t hike, but the beach area was pebbles and the whole area was super shallow, so even tho I forgot our life jackets and swimsuits I felt comfortable letting my kids go further out while I stayed on the shore with my baby. The playground was close by, TONS of covered picnic tables and the little sandpit area by the slide was perfectly shaded. Can’t wait to come back and camp with the kids for a longer trip

(I also collect state park memorabilia and would like to say the selection this park had was pretty good. They had multiple patches, stickers, magnets, etc. I’ve included photos of these because I never see them online and I include them for collectors like our family.)

Be prepared to listen to loud music till late at night. Can't believe they allow people to blast music this loud in a campground past quite hours. I read this in reviews prior to coming and hoped it wouldn't be an issue but it is was. They need rangers to do drive by after 10pm to enforce quit hours. The park however was nice. Nice mtn bike/trail. Was some ants so be carefully what you leave out.

I was very impressed with this park. With it being so close to the DFW area I didn’t expect it to be large and have trails. Usually lake state parks have just a lake and beaches. It was so nice so hike through the hills and have views of a lake. The staff was so nice and welcoming. I wish I had more time here.

Always loved coming out to this state park! Bathrooms are usually very clean, they are old but still useable. Trails are scenic, campsites are spacious and somewhat private.

Cedar Hill State Park is a fascinating place with tons of history and teeming with wildlife. Some of the wild critters can be dangerous if approached too closely (like the highly venomous Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes and broad band copperheads pictured) and caution should be used at dusk and dawn when these animals are most active. For those who appreciate wild animals, especially venomous reptiles, it can be a very rewarding trip.

Beautiful hiking trails include access for beginners to advanced - for hiking, running, biking. Some picnic areas and beautiful outlook posts for viewing the lake! Be prepared for many open air treads…sunscreen and LOTS of water if you’re choosing a longer trail. Cell service will also get spotty, but this location is well preserved, and an absolute favorite!! ❤️ 🌟

A nice state park close to the metroplex. Lots to do with a great deal of hiking and biking trails. At 1800+ acres this is a large state park. It has some of the best fishing piers I have seen. (Not sure how good the fishing is but the piers are very nice. The lake access is extensive and you can spread out. The day use areas are nice with lots of amenities. Bring the family and the pets as there is something for everyone.
